Toni, please take care of your allergic reactions. The medicine will help but you still need to take it easy and not leave the house!
We de-decorated the outside this morning--garland off the fences, gate, and house, and the door wreath is down. We also packed up all the nativity scenes (all 35) and put them away until next year, and took the decorations off the mantle, sideboard and dining room table.
I'll make a stuffed pork tenderloin with roasted vegetables for our New Year's Eve dinner, and we'll probably be in bed by 10 p.m.

Happy New Year! It's -2°C and overcast with light snow falling. We stayed up past midnight, but just barely. We might take down our decorations today, or we might wait until tomorrow. Cooking up a good family breakfast first, and then we will plan our day. Have a great day all :)

Good morning on the first day of 2016 all. I think today will be just a stay at home and do nothing day. We didn't get to bed until 4 a.m. so we are both getting a really late start on today anyway.

Happy new year all! And good afternoon also. Yesterday turned out to be a pretty normal day which after all the festivities of days past is very welcome. Today has started out pretty foggy and now starting to mist. Still lots of flooding in many parts of the country and there is more rain promised also.

Have a wonderful Saturday ahead all!

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -3°C and overcast. We are trying to get back to 'normal' today ... we had skating for the first time in weeks, and now we are home about to take down the Christmas tree and decorations. DH is still working on the house and the drywall dust is clogging up my sinus's and giving me a headache. I hope he stops ripping things apart! What started as a simple drywall repair in the laundry room has now turned into a bathroom, laundry room and living room project with each room now needing repainting and some electrical work. BUT at least my door way has finally been widened, the wiring is getting fixed, I am getting an outlet in the bathroom, and I am re-decorating a few things that have been bothering me. You never know what can of worms you might open when doing work to an 81 year old house! Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -4°C and snowing. Our house looks a little naked now, without all the Christmas decorations and tree. I left one string of lights and a garland on the banister outside my bedroom for a few more days because I really like the way it looks at night. Today the cleanup/home improvement continues with some drywall work while I search pinterest for some inspiration for bathroom and craft room ideas. Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. It's the coldest morning so far this winter ... currently -19°C! Brrr! Not planning on going too far today, except later we have skating. I'm going to keep going with my clean out today- I already have 2 boxes of things to get rid of. May spend a good part of the day in the kitchen ... The cold weather has me thinking about a nice hearty stew and some home made bread for dinner tonight. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Not too bad outside, chilly but yesterday it got into the 60s....aaargh.
Netty leave the string of lights on the banister year round. I have a few strings of lights at different places inside and they give the house a nice glow during the night.

We have been pretty much cooped up the last week or so, Randy has had the Crud and my allergies got really bad. So today we go wandering through some antique/junque shops to see what's there and basically to get out of the house for a while.

Good afternoon. I woke up to -10°C / 14°F this morning. Four days ago we had 16°C / 61°F. This is ridiculous. Unfortunately no snow. The cold will last for at least another week. The good thing is that it's dry. We even get a little bit of sunshine when the sun passes the gap in the mountains. We've got about 7 hours of daylight, and we're lucky to get those two-three hours of sun. I'm sooo looking forward to March when the sun has climbed above the mountains. Enjoy your day!

Wow Droopy it got real cold real fast over there! We are in the middle of the hottest, dryest summer we've had for years and years. Now and then we get these cloudbursts with hail and thunder and it lasts 10 minutes and then nothing. Very unusual for our area. But I think I'll stop complaining your weather sounds too cold and dark for me!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -18°C and clear. We've been having weather extremes here too Droopy, -18°C to start our day, and +1 to end it. The rest of the week looks mild too. We had a very lazy day yesterday, I think because it was so cold that no one wanted to do anything but sit by the wood stove. Today I will need to bring in more wood, and try to keep up with the dust that DH is creating all over the house with his drywall repairs. I'll be glad when this dusty stage is over! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Did a little junque shopping yesterday and found a couple of things for the bathroom re-do.
I think it got down to the freezing point last night (32F/0C) and even though it is clear and sunny, the temp is taking a while to climb back up. We do have a couple days in the mid-60s coming later this week. And maybe some rain, this is supposed to be a wet and cold winter down here with El Niño but that isn't happening so far.

Good afternoon all! We had relatives visiting for Christmas and New Year's but yesterday they returned home. While it was nice to have them it was hard to concentrate on work so hopefully now I can get back to 100% productivity again :) Every place is still wet outside with heavy rain promised tomorrow. This December had been the wettest since records began. We got a winter's worth of rain in the space of a month.
Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

// edit @Sjoerd you asked me a few days back for some photos of the sheep "maternity ward" so here you go :)

It wasn't too warm here today, mid-teens. I guess winter has finally arrived. It was a bit windy and that makes it feel colder. But, there was some sunshine. It's supposed to rain or rain mixed with snow or snow starting on Thrusday and going through the weekend. Then, the temps will drop down to 9 or 10 degrees F during the day and below zero at nights. That's more like the seasonal weather here. All of the fishermen are cheering because right now the river and lake have no ice thick enough for ice fishing which is a winter recreation here. We've only had that one 10 inch snow this year so I guess snow is past due, too. I'll find things to keep me busy inside for awhile, I think. dooley

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -6°C and sunny. I started the day out by losing a filling in one of my teeth, just what I didn't need! Yesterday, the Christmas gift from my son finally arrived ... a mini greenhouse with a cover! This will be great for starting seedlings in the spring! Today we are off to look for a new jacket for my son, and then skating tonight for my daughter and I. Have a great day all :)
