Good afternoon all. A layer of ice on birdbaths this morning and yesterday evenings minuscule amount of drizzle did make for some icy spots on flat surfaces early this morning. But it has warmed up and nothing but sunshine out there now.
We found an estate sale to wander through yesterday and I came home with 18 gardening magazines that only cost $2.50 total, so I have been looking through those this afternoon.....just don't want to do much of anything else today so we are having a lazy day.

I didn't go out today but dr went to get the Sunday paper. It was 4 degrees when he went out about 3:30 this afternoon. This morning it was zero degrees F with a wind chill of minus 20 below zero. No more snow melted today and what melted yesterday is ice now. It will be about the same tomorrow but will warm up to 14 degrees F on Wednesday. I will maybe be able to go out on that day.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -16°C with a windchill of -24°C. We have a bit of light snow falling as well, covering the ice making it a very treacherous dog walk. Home now having my coffee and will be starting an online look at used cars, reading reviews and looking around for local deals. Car shopping is stressful! Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! After a bit of a cold spell last week it is a milder start to the week. Promised unsettled weather as the week goes on. We have an election very soon here in Ireland and the main political parties are already flinging dirty at each other. Some things never change.
    Have a top Monday all!

Frank, think of all the raised beds that could be filled with the dirt (and manure) that politicians fling!
We are off to town today with a stop at the feed store and big grocery for a few items we can't get locally. Please note I am accompanying my husband so we don't end up with a collection of coconuts with cute faces http://www.gardenstew.com/threads/cant-leave-hubby-on-his-own.36553/ if you haven't seen the result of his last trip on his own.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -18°C and snowing. It is a lot colder than I expected this morning, and I don't think snow was in the forecast. Yesterday ended up being final clean up day in the bathroom and laundry room ... I scrubbed every nook and cranny of those two rooms! Today I will finish them off by getting the tall ladder and cleaning the light fixtures. The floor in the new craft room has been sealed, and now that I am almost ready to move my things in I am wondering if I would like to change the color of the walls after all. Decisions, decisions!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, feeling the way I do about the color pink I would have been repainting that room while hubby was doing his part of the work. Painting it now will be so much easier than later when you have to move, take down or cover everything to keep it paint free.

Good morning all. Daughter's hand surgery yesterday was a complete success. An hour of pre-surgery getting ready, 15 minutes of actual surgery then about 45 minutes of post-surgery recovering. She wanted to go back to her apartment afterwards and sleep in her own bed, we came home so we could each sleep in our own recliners before going to bed.

Netty, instead of living for years with a color you don't like (and I agree with Toni, pink ain't my thing!) go ahead and paint now when it's so much easier and you'll end up with a room you love, rather than one you like and tolerate the wall color.
Toni, so glad your daughter's hand surgery went well! Will her use of that hand be limited until it completely heals? If so, get Randy to open jars for her and stash them in her fridge. When my husband had his thumb injury I had to open all those pesky jars by myself because he simply couldn't.
This has been a good morning--cleaned the coop and filled the two waterers for the hens, did a couple of loads of laundry and hung them out to dry, and made applesauce. The grocery had three pound bags of apples for $2 so I got two bags and now we have lovely chunky applesauce and the hens are enjoying the peels and cores--in moderation.

We opened a lot of pesky jars and bottles yesterday before leaving her but the one thing none of us realized was that her pain meds were in a bottle with a childproof cap so instead of calling us to come open it she waited until her roommate got home from work. We have got to tell the pharmacy to not use those lids on her meds anymore. Randy took her to Taco Bell last night, she was craving burritos (both my girls crave burritos after surgery o_O) The oldest did after having her tonsils out....since she couldn't eat anything but very soft foods, I put them in the blender and she had bean/cheese burrito smoothies.

Good morning all! Lovely, crisp one here. Birds are gathering around the feeders a lot, I guess word has spread around on the bird internet (TweetNet?). Glad to hear your daughter's hand surgery went well @toni . I can imagine the frustration of trying to open jars etc...
    Have a great Wednesday all!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -10°c and overcast. It was warm enough to walk the dog without the extra pant layer I have been wearing this week! I started looking thru my seeds and seed catalogs last night, and came to the conclusion that I don't need to buy anything else. Of course that doesn't mean that I wont! :smt080
Today I need to clean the ash out of the woodstove and bring in some more firewood. After that, I think I'm going to clean out the fridge and freezer and then make a shopping list for tomorrow. Wow, I lead an exciting life! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. No winter weather here....sadly no rain either and the long range forecast doesn't include rain very much either.

I am going to go back through those magazines I got last weekend and make a list of ideas I found there....otherwise they will float off into the wild blue yonder never to be remembered. Not that I will get the mall done but I can dream.

Toni, gardening is half dreaming and half sweating!
It's chilly here--in the mid-30's and I'm not going to go out until it warms up! I did go out to feed the hens and clean the coop, and was rewarded with an egg for my bravery. Soup on the stove for lunch, and bread rising to replenish my "stash" in the freezer.
Hope you all have a good day!

It was 6 degrees here when we got up but it did make it to 18 degrees today. It was a layer day and I had on about three or four layers. I even wound a scarf around to cover my nose which is generally cold all the time we are out. We started shopping at one store and found they had raised all of their prices. We ended up doing some shopping at Walmart. I wanted a box of oatmeal at Walmart and it was $1.69. At the first store it was $2.89. Maybe I'll make oatmeal scones for breakfast tomorrow. I bought some figs for them last week. Raisins just aren't the same. You all have a nice evening. dooley

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -12°C and clear. Lovely sunrise to start my day, and now I am off to do some errands and shopping. Prices have gone up here too Dooley, and I carefully planned my list and will do some price matching today. I am so thankful that I canned so much garden produce this year, and have been buying meat on sale. It makes a big difference. Have a great day all :)
