Good Saturday morning all. Currently 5°C and overcast. We were at the skating rink bright and early this morning, and then to the grocery store. Found pork on sale and so I am now canning some pork cubes, and some beans to fill the pressure canner. I've got laundry on and I'm also cleaning the kitchen. I'll probably need a nap soon!
I noticed yesterday the stores are putting out the seeds and gardening stuff, and that made me very happy. Have a great day all :)

Happy Saturday! I up-potted some herbs and communed with the hens this morning. I have a cold, so I'm taking it easy, but my blessed husband was out spreading mulch on the garden paths. We are taking advantage of this 70 degree weather while we can--supposed to rain and get chillier tomorrow.

Today, we could look out the window and actually see grass patches where there was all snow a few days ago. Of course, we had to contend with puddles up to our ankles. I knew I should have worn my boots when we went out walking. It was about 36F yesterday and today it was up to 45F last time I looked. Now, it's going back into the 30F range for tonight. It was just a couple of early spring days and now it will go back to being winter again for a week or two or three. dooley

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast. I had a long walk with the dog, and it sure is muddy! Just checked yesterdays canning projects, and all but 1 jar of beans sealed. I will have to come up with a dinner that has beans in it for tonight. Not sure what we are doing today, I will have to wait for my daughter to wake up. Sunday is her only day to sleep in so I wont disturb her. Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently -9°C and sunny. It looks like a beautiful day ahead! I was moving piles of Buckthorn branches yesterday, and even though I was wearing heavy gloves, I have several 'holes' in my hands that are very sore. I still have one more large pile to move, I may just double up on gloves next time! I'll try to get something done outside today to enjoy the weather. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! What's this, sunshine?! I'd almost forgotten what it looked like :) Lovely day here so far with, dare I say it, a bit of drying too. I think this week is promised more of the same with perhaps just a small bit of rain. However I have a bit of a cold so that is kind of negating the positive feelings from the sunshine. Overall though, the rating is not bad.
    Have a top Monday all!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -7°C and sunny. Its the calm before the storm according to my local weather expert. I will have to try to get outside today and enjoy the sunshine. Tomorrow, the winds, snow, freezing rain and rain begin! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. It's raining this morning!!! First good rain since January 7th so it's very welcome in my garden. No decently cold weather to go with it but a cool front did move through last night so the temp will stay in the 40-50 deg range all day instead of the 70-80s we have had most of this month.
Two of my cemetery Iris Iris albicans (White Cemetery Iris) are blooming with more buds about to join them and one of the purple ones is about to open too. They are running about a 6 weeks earlier than last year.

Good evening all. I haven't been on much lately, and I won't be on much for a few more days I'm afraid. We've had a series of unfortunate incidents concerning people at the stables so we're a bit short-handed. This too shall pass as they say, but until then we'll be stretched. The weather is pretty awful. Rain, sleet, snow, rain, hail, rain, snow, sleet etc. February is the worst month of the year. It never ends even though it's supposed to be short. I'll sit down and moan to my husband now. Enjoy your Tuesday, see you as soon as I can.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -2°C and overcast. This is the calm before the storm, or so they say. I think this may be another case of the media blowing things way out of proportion. There is a rain/snow event on the way, the only issue should be the temperature dropping to the freezing point. I guess we will know soon enough. Mopping floors this morning, and then making up a seed order. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. The total rain fall amount for the past 3 days ended at 2.01 inches and it is probably already soaked up leaving the top of the ground bone dry again.

We have a new PBS channel in north Texas....KERA now has 3 and the newest one is called Create and shows cooking, travel, painting, sewing, knitting/crochet, gardening programs that have been on PBS over the years. It's pretty interesting but has way too many cooking programs....just how many different ways are there to cook chicken????
But it was a nice way to spend a rainy yesterday, knit and watch programs I haven't seen before. Almost to the halfway mark on Dr. Who scarf #3. Those things go very quickly and 3 should be all I need to make, our niece, oldest grandson and his sweety are big Dr. Who fans. I am thinking about using the left over yarn (with a couple more skeins added) to make them all tube socks too. And the scarf is like the one Tom Baker wore as Dr. Who #4, in my opinion the absolute best Dr. Who ever.

Toni, our PBS has the Create channel, and there are several really great shows. I love Jacques Pepin's cooking show, and the American Test Kitchen, too. Husband likes the outdoor photography program--stunning scenery and wildlife, and how-to tips for photographing. There is one show "New Scandinavian Cooking" that is so darned funny, without intending to be! The host Andreas somebody is so terribly, terribly intent, and he's been stuck on a glacier with a gas stove; on a sailboat in high seas with waves breaking over his food; and on a steep hillside with a group of people all trying to stay in their chairs and not slide downhill. We watch it and laugh until our sides ache!
And there are many, many ways to cook chicken, and keep watching Martha and Lydia and Patti and you'll discover them all!

I'll sometimes watch Lydia, don't know Patti and will NOT watch Martha.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast. I haven't been out for my dog walk yet, but I imagine that it is very icy out as I heard the rain and wind all night. Wind is gone and now it is snowing. I'm up bright and early to go to a chainsaw safety course that I have wanted to to for a long time. Today is the day! Have a great day all :)
