Good morning all. It rained almost all day yesterday, the kind of long rainy day that we haven't had in years. Most years recently the rain has come over in fast passing lines of storms in a hurry to get somewhere else before dropping the heaviest part of their load. But sadly there are some places south of me that are flooded, houses destroyed, horses left on a front porch waiting for a livestock rescue helicopter to get them and people have died.

Yesterday it didn't rain, so we did a marathon mowing session. We added dirt and pine mulch to the new coop in case the ladies need to move to a drier spot (rain is predicted for the next two days). Friends who live in College Station called and asked if we could be on stand-by to take their three horses if the Brazos flooding reaches their pasture. Of course, I love having guests! We cleaned out a stall where we were storing excess bee frames, etc. and put up temporary cross fencing to keep the guests out of the vegetable garden.. Friends are bring feed and bedding and any necessary tack. We were so tuckered out that we went right to bed after a late dinner.
So far today all we've done is clean the coop, wash the kitchen floor (I could grow potatoes in the tracked in mud!), and pick squash and cherry tomatoes.

Ive heard about the flooding in Texas and I hope all our Stewbies are OK.
Good Thursday morning all. Currently 10 degrees C and overcast. Rain the forecast for today, I do hope it doesn't disappoint! Off to work where the planting of annuals continues. Have a great day all!

Good Friday morning all. Currently 11 degrees and clear. TGIF!! I have been working too hard ... too many jobs on the go and last night I was completely worn out. I was in bed by 7:30! Feeling rested, but so much to do today, and tomorrow I am committed to BBQing at a soccer tournament. Sunday will be my only day off and that will be spent doing housework. I havent even seen my flower beds in days! Maybe I can squeeze in some garden time after work today. Have a great day all :)

Good soggy morning all....still I really can't complain about the rain we have gotten. It is much, much worse south and west of us. One more afternoon of some rain then the faucet in the sky shuts off for who knows how long.....another reason why I don't complain about rain when we get it.

Today we say goodbye to our little blue truck. We bought it from my Mom when she had to quit driving in 2008, she bought it new in 2000 and now it is being turned over to our oldest grandson. It's been into the shop for some repairs and small fixes (new driveshaft and some seals replaced) we know it should last him for another 5+ years.
We finally bought our replacement last month, my goodness this newer (2012 Toyota) is a behemoth in comparison. But with the truck bed it has I will be able to buy the big stuff when we go junquing :scheming:.
Grandson is also 'doing' the section of H***strip out front where trash and recycle cans are set out. Can't plant anything there so he has made us a really nice section with patio stones and rocks. Pictures to come later.

Morning all. A nice day here to garden and then swim.
We will see how good the astaxanthin protects me from burning this year. I feel I am going to be outside a lot this season. :)

    Have a good 1!

Toni, congratulations on your new, big junque hauler! I love my little truck although all the farmers pull up beside it in their big duallies and laugh.
Green Numb, my husband is prone to sunburn, so I got him the lightest weight long-sleeved shirts I could find and he wears one when he'll be outside for any length of time. He also has light weight long pants. That stunning outfit and a hat keeps him from looking like rare roast beef. If sunblock isn't sufficient, you might try a light weight outfit.
Everything is so soggy I can't do much in the garden. I did manage to get to the squash and pick, and I spied a few ripe cherry tomatoes I may have to hop in the boat and go harvest!
Hope everyone has a good day!

Woke up to sunshine today! It's still damp out there, with standing water in a couple of places, but what an improvement. Today just might be the day the chicks get introduced to the big wide world. We have their playpen set up in the yard next to the patio, a clean waterer in the playpen, and all is ready for a play day (of about two hours--they are still little and I don't want them to exhaust themselves.)
I harvested herbs and chopped and froze. Don't have much else planned for the day except sitting on the patio with a glass of wine, watching the chicks play, then fixing shrimp etoufee for dinner.

Good monday morning all. Currently 10 degrees and breezy. I forgot about a scheduled power outage yesterday and we finally got rain so I spent the entire day in the garden. 5 flats of flowers and the rest of the veggie garden were put in, what a relief! Off to work where the planting continues. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all. No rain today and probably not for at least the next week....there was a hint from the weather guy last night that June may turn out to be quite cool compared to Junes of previous years. It wouldn't take much of a temp drop to be cooler than most Junes and I am not holding my breath but that would be a great thing if it happens.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 10 degrees C and cloudy. We had an unexpected rain shower last night, which we needed badly. Another day of planting at work, and then my tonight my daughter, SIL and puppy are coming for a visit. I haven't seen them for a while, so I'm excited! Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! I'm melting here  Temperatures are in the mid-20s and Irish bodies are not really built for this kind of sustained heat. I'm staying in the shade.
    Have a top Wednesday all!

Good morning all. Frank, sorry to hear you all are having a heat wave. I envy you those temperatures tho, we are heading into Summer temps with heat returning, later than most recent years but returning none the less. Supposed to be hovering between 90-95 this week. (32-35C) My head is clogged with something I got into yesterday in the back yard .... probably mold, everything is soggy from the rain lately. So I am staying indoors today.
