Happy Saturday! Netty, I loved the "he had words with the vacuum and broom"! Yes, Sargent is getting very comfy in his new home.
I just finished mowing the back yard and am cooling off. It was half-way pleasant with temps in the low 80's and a breeze, but please don't tell my husband I said that. I'm going to pull the hard working wife routine and see what it gets me:scheming:.
Yesterday was marinara sauce day--the house smelled so good after making a huge batch to freeze. Somehow, I didn't want anything with tomatoes for dinner . . . .

I can't wait to have fresh, homegrown tomatoes MG!
Good Sunday morning all. Currently 18°C and sunny. Yesterday was a hot and lazy kind of day so not much got done. Today will be even hotter so I'm on my way outside to get some weeding and watering done before the heat of the day. Weather forecast now shows a bit of rain this evening, and I sure hope they aren't lying! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. We had a great day out on Friday, yesterday I finally got the new junque photographed and will get them posted later. Didn't get a lot of little things cause I found a door!!!! I have been wanting one like this for many years, I just stood there and sang "Here Comes Santa Clause" so Randy would know his Christmas shopping for me was done. But, you know, with his memory I think I will probably have time over the next 6 months for repeat performances without him getting suspicious.:scheming:

Netty, we haven't had rain in 11 days but with the temps hovering around 100 degrees for those days our black clay is concrete and leaves on everything, even some natives plants are crinkling.
And the upcoming week will be 97-99 degrees each day with very little chance of any measurable rain. Only 89 days until the first day of Fall, like that means a whole heck of a lot when it comes to temperatures around here. :(

Good Monday morning all. Currently 17°C and overcast. We did get a bit of rain overnight, enough to fill the rain barrels to almost the half way mark. I guess some rain is better than no rain. Off to work, where I hope got more rain than here. I really don't want to drag hoses today! Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast. Much nicer temperatures today, with the high expected to hit only 20°C. Nice change from the past few hot and humid days. Off to work to mulch the gardens we watered yesterday. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Just another (I want to say Tequila sunrise, got The Eagles on the brain this morning) but it's just another hot and dry sunrise. Some areas, like downtown Dallas, got hammered with heavy rain and very high winds late yesterday but we sat up here just a couple of miles away only hearing thunder and seeing a line of black clouds to the south. Considering their damage I am glad to have missed that event. A little rain would be nice but I like my roof and trees where they are, thank you very much.

I am reclaiming 'Reading Tuesday' Many years ago I set aside Tuesday every week to spend the day reading but after a few years gardening and other things laid claim to that day and won. I am reinstating it so I can finally get that tall stack of unread books read and put up or given away.

Oh happy day! My husband fixed our quad runner that pulls the shredder! Isn't he he best? The quad has been out of commission for a couple of months, with him getting more and more frustrated with its recalcitrance. Today he figured out that three things went wrong at the same time, fixed all three, and is motoring about the field to see if it's running smoothly (and to show off).
I'm now a part of the landscape for the chicklets. Instead of all huddling in a corner of the coop when I go in, they now run over my feet to get to the treats I scatter. It's so nice to be accepted . . . .
Baking dinner rolls today--I'd rather be in the warm kitchen than out in the hot sun. Got my outside work done (pruning, watering, picking) before things heated up.
Have a good day all, and anyone want a ride on a functioning quad runner?

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 11°C and overcast. There were scattered showers yesterday, but not at my house. I feel like Toni lately ... watching the storm clouds pass but them never quite reaching me. Plants are getting crispy out in the yard and it's heartbreaking. Puppy has his devils hat on this morning, getting into all kinds of mischief. I wish I had his energy! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Getting closer and closer to the 100 deg mark....but frankly 97, 98, 99 are just not that much cooler than 100, at that point reading the thermometer is a waste of time.
Got some potted plants out front watered but the backyard will have to wait until tomorrow morning.

To make this day completely depressing I think I will spent the rest of it trying to find my grandmother previous to 1926 again.

We had 1/8" of rain yesterday, so I didn't have to water the flower beds this morning. I used the "spare" time to pull the last of the carrots, pick squash and tomatoes, and convince the chicklets that past-their-prime cherry tomatoes were delicious. They caught on and now expect treats each time they see me. Who said chickens were dumb?
Husband is out shredding the pasture, so I'd better plan a good dinner for him. He deserves kudos for fixing the quad runner, and also for being such a good shredder. I do have a nice steak in the freezer . . . .

Good Thursday morning all. Currrently 12°C and cloudy. Was just out in the gardens, and things are looking bad. Everything is wilted or turning brown. There is finally a chance of rain tomorrow, but it might be too late for many things. Most of the annuals I planted this spring look dead. I do hope it is an all day rain, but after listening to the weather reports for the past 2 months and being let down, it is hard to stay positive. What we really need here is a good 3 day rain. Off to work to drag hoses - boy is THAT getting old! Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all, and Happy Canada Day to all the Canadian Stewbies out there! Even though its a Holiday, I have to work today. There is a very good chance of rain today, so I hope I'm not let down. After work its home to relax (HA!) for a few days. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Yesterday was our youngests birthday, 29. She wanted Chinese for supper complete with assorted squidly bits, Randy had shrimp, I had scallops and the best cold coffee I have had in a long time. Then to Paciugo for gelato. Next off to wander through a couple of Half Price books stores. All in all it was a very good evening. And of course we came home with books. Today is the birthday of our grandson's girl friend, then no more birthdays until Randy's and our youngest grandson in late July.

Today is Canada Day, so to Netty and all our members "up north" best wishes!
House cleaning today, and a bit of baking if I can fit it in.
