Good Saturday morning all. Currently just 8°C and breezy. The rain Gods blessed us yesterday, finally some rain on our dry and cracked ground. I do hope it didn't come too late for the farmers. It may be too late for some of my garden plants, I will have a better look in a while. I think I will spread some wood chips on the gardens while they are good and wet. I do hope that July is a wetter month than June was! Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 12°C and sunny. It looks like another week ahead with no rain, and so I will continue to mulch my garden beds. I managed to get 2 done yesterday, as well as weed and deadhead. Sadly, I lost many of my annuals due to the drought and so I have to decide if I want to replace them or not. A few chores to do this morning and then it is out to the garden. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. We have no rain and 100+ temps. My annuals didn't make it past early June and anything I plant today wouldn't make it to the end of next week, so there will be no gardening for me until sometime in October.
I am getting a lot of knitting done and some reading. I bought 5 more books the other day when our youngest daughter wanted a trip to Half-Price Books for her birthday.

I'm starting to know how you feel Toni. It has been unusually hot and dry here, and many times I compared it to weather in Texas. It can sure suck the joy out of gardening watching plants die off. I have the day off today because I worked on Friday (Canada Day) so I am going to try to catch up on some pruning. There is a large Lilac in front of my kitchen window that is getting out of control and blocking the satellite dish. Hubby gets cranky when his satellite cuts out :chuckle: Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all. Power went off at 5:30 this morning when a really bad storm moved over us. Heavy rain, lots of lightening and thunder, very high winds. some hail that sounded like golf ball size hitting the top of the window air conditioner and rain that was mostly blowing horizontally across the ground so the 1.70 inches in the gauge is only a portion of what actually fell.
We left here about 11am to go get some breakfast and a few groceries and it would appear that the power came back on as we were backing out of the driveway....we do have some battery operated clocks that were not affected so when the power came back on was fairly easy to figure out how long the power was out.
Thankfully, I won't have to water anything until late this week.

Congrats on some rain Toni! Too bad it had to come with severe conditions!
Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 11°C and clear. Gonna be another scorcher! I'm well rested this morning, and off to work for another day of dragging hoses. This gets very old!
Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Got more rain last night, not nearly as severe here as yesterday, only .87 inches in the gauge but again accompanied by strong winds. I haven't walked through the gardens to pick up fallen Pecan tree bits mainly because it is so hot and humid already. So another day of indoor activities.
We purposely stayed at home as much as possible over the holiday weekend two days of not going anywhere, it was really nice. Most of this week will be the same....I hope.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 18°c and overcast. I heard there is a chance of rain today, and I do hope it comes!
Getting ready for work with a puppy around can be rather interesting. He gets hold of every piece of clothing as you try to get dressed, barges into the bathroom, gets underfoot ... one has to be very careful not to trip and fall!! Off to work to drag hoses again. This is getting very old. Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 21°C and muggy. I've got the slow cooker going for dinner ... pulled pork for sandwiches. It's just too hot to cook!
Off for another day of dragging hoses UGH Have a great day all :)

Good morning all.....opps, afternoon all. Oh, well, it's still morning somewhere.
I sure hope there is still residual rain in the pots and ground because it's too ******* hot to be out watering. It's 90 at noon, feels like temp is 96 and both will continue going up as long as the sun is in place. And no, just because I was born here and have lived here all but 7 years of my life that does not mean I have adjusted to the temps, tolerate the temps and definitely do not enjoy them.:sulk:

Toni, we feel your pain! I get up and get everything done by 9 a.m. or thereabouts, and then spend the rest of the day inside if possible.
July and August are the hottest, and the hardest to deal with.
This morning I picked squash to take to the food bank, fed the hens and chicklets, cleaned the coops, and by 8:30 a.m. was ready to go into town to the feed store and grocery. By 3 p.m. I'll be more than ready for a nap!
I just keep reminding myself I don't have to shovel snow, and it's been years since I shivered :like:!

I really love shivering.....could use a good one now but we no longer have a stand up freezer, I could lay across the open chest freezer.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 14°C and foggy.
Well, the storm that was to move into southern Ontario from Manitoba has dissipated so that leaves us another dry day. This means another day of dragging hoses at work. My hands are getting scaly from being wet all the time ... I think I"m turning into a fish. Can you all do a little rain dance for me?

Good morning all. I really should be outside watering potted plants but I am tired. I am sad too.
