Good Sunday morning all. Currently 15°C and overcast. I would really like it to stay overcast for the day so I can get out to my garden. Had a great time at the garden tour yesterday and I am feeling inspired! Laundry and chores to do first and then I'll be out there! Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast. It is a civic holiday today, and so it will be busy at work. My co-worker has also booked the day off so I am working alone. That's OK - sometimes I like to work alone. It will be a day of dragging hoses and deadheading. But I look forward to coming home and watering my own gardens! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Netty what is todays holiday? We don't have any in August, it's a pretty boring month here that is just hot and dry. We have a whole week of 100-105 deg temps coming up and those aren't even the feels like temps, those will be about 4 degrees higher each day.

Had a great day out with out oldest daughter yesterday, we were able to make it to 3 antique malls after breakfast. All three have changed their emphasis and have gone almost totally fussy antiques with ridiculous prices so they are off our list now. But we both were able to find a few things....photos after I go tend to the neighbor's dog. She is out of town until Sept 4 so I'm going over twice a day to let him out for a while, feed him and play with him a bit (he is pretty old so the playing time is very short).

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 15°C and clear. Another hot and muggy (and DRY!) day ahead. A day for dragging hoses and following the shade around the workplace today.
Yesterday's civic holiday was 'Simcoe Day' and I'm not exactly sure what that is all about, except that my workplace is one of the only places that doesn't 'recognize the holiday' and it's business as usual. I think that is wrong as the business, their livelihood, is on the shores of Lake Simcoe! Regardless, I worked the day, dodging guests and wondering what my family was doing at home. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. We are in the middle of a string of 100+ days now but from the sounds of the forecast that 'middle' will keep advancing with each passing day.
Plumber should be here in about 45 minutes....then I have lots of dishes and laundry to get caught up on. It will be nice to have use of the kitchen sink again.

Netty, we have 10 Federal holidays but 3 of them are only partially observed by businesses ....Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
But with our increasing diversity of citizens more and more grocery stores and restaurants are opening later in the day on those days since there are so many people who do not celebrate. Many of the employees who do work those days are ones who either do not celebrate or do not have family to be with.

Woke up early because of heavy thunder and lightening. Raining so hard here right now the sky is just sheeting down white with rain. Not sure I have ever seen it rain this hard here before.

One of my younger sisters is staying with us for a short while, maybe a week or so. She's got all kinds of mental issues, most recently trauma from seeing her guy BFF commit suicide in front of her, and his family blames her for it (the kid apparently went off his meds and snapped). And all her "friends" are telling her to get over it already. That really makes me mad!

Anyway, she's been living out of her car and wherever she could crash on a couch. So yesterday she drove down from Indy, and spent a night in a real bed after ages of not. She doesnt have a job because she cant keep one longer than a few months, poor kid. But maybe this might help some. She does see a therapist, but there's only so much they can do. She also has counseling to try to get insurance and disability.
Yesterday I bought her some much needed stuff, like shampoo and conditioner, a new toothbrush, socks, etc. And this morning when I went downstairs to grab laundry, she had cleaned the kitchen, straightened the dining table and picked up the trash (one of the dogs went rifling through one of the trash cans last night) from the living room :)
I wouldnt mind having her stay if she could get and hold a job :/

Bip, good to see you posting again, and bless you for being there for your sister. I hope she can get her life on track. Having someone help with the cleaning, straightening up, and picking up--great! Shows she appreciates what you are doing for her, and also taking responsibility for her surroundings.
Husband took the walk-behind shredder down by the pond and got the weeds/grass/ugly stuff down. I picked over the remains of the vegetable garden (squash and cucumbers and cherry tomatoes) and did some window washing. After washing windows I found we actually have a view!
The hens were very active, so I had to fill in some of the craters they dug last night. Amazing how big and deep holes their little feet can make! I got a half-wheelbarrow full of gravelly soil and filled in the holes. It's a constant battle between them digging and me filling in. At least it keeps us all entertained . . . .

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 16°C and cloudy. It is getting darker in the mornings now, and I need a light when I take the dog out. Broken record today ... to to work to drag hoses. There is a chance of rain on Friday, but 2 days of heat to get through yet, and then another on Friday before the cold front moves in. We need rain desperately, but sure don't need a damaging storm.

Good morning all. Sure wish we could be expecting a cold front...a cool front would be nice....even a sneeze from the Arctic would be acceptable. But nothing in our forecast for the next 2 weeks except 100+ temps, the weather guy last night had nothing good to say about the rest of August either. We are hibernating as much as possible and I am not looking forward to seeing our next electric bill.

The plumber got the repair job done yesterday, now the kitchen is fully functional again. Shoot, that means no more 'I can't cook' excuses.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 16°C and clear. Another hot one ahead, and still no sign of rain. I am really starting to feel like I have been fried crispy, and I'm not sure how much of this I can take! I keep looking ahead at the weather forecast, and think I just need to get through one more day before a break in the weather, but then the forecast changes.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 24°C and humid. Yet another scorcher today and watering will be tricky today at work. The pump on my watering system broke yesterday, and so I have to figure out how to water all the gardens around the estate with only 3 town water hoses. Should make for an interesting day! We are due to have a cold front move in tonight, which should finally bring some rain. The ground is so dry and packed down I'm not sure how much water will be absorbed, but my gardens sure need it! Have a great day all :)

Some say TGIF; I say 'what day is it'? The trouble with having been retired for many years you really DO forget what day it is :) Anyhow, I have Blogged today as another little permanent record.;)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 12°C and breezy. A small rain storm finally blew through here yesterday ... we got about 20 minutes of torrential rain and then it was gone. Not really enough water to satisfy the brown lawns and parched trees, but my garden is watered so I'll take it. Humidity is finally gone and I am happy! Off to the soccer pitch for the final day tournament and BBQ, and so I am glad for the cooler temperatures. Have a great day all :)
