Good Sunday morning all. I woke up to the sweet, wonderful sound of rain! We needed it SO badly!
After a very wet dog walk, I am now enjoying some fresh juice from my juicer and catching up on my computer time. I had a genealogical breakthrough last night, with Ancestry.com as they have released select records from East Prussia. I already found my great grandfathers wedding records so I am doing a happy dance!
Have a great day all :)

    Good morning all.
I wish Ancestry.com would release information on immigrants from outer space....then I might find my grandmother.

Just another clear, sunny and warm day coming up here.

Warm and sunny today, like Toni's weather. Husband watered the orchard trees while I watered pot plants and the peppers. Didn't really want to do any garden work so I'll bake breads this afternoon. New recipe for an herb bread that I'm anxious to try.
Since there is nothing on the TV this evening that we care to watch, we'll put on a DVD of Il Volo and have a glass of Pinot Grigio.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast with a strong breeze from the NW. It really feels like fall out there today!
I filled my big slow cooker with tomatoes before I went to bed, and they have been cooking all night on low. Letting it cool a bit before I put them through the food mill.
I've never done it this way before, but I'm hoping to can them all up this afternoon. It's been a difficult year for the tomatoes in the garden and there aren't many. I'm not going to make my tomato canning quota this year, that's for sure. Rain in the forecast for this afternoon, we need it.
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 16°C and foggy. We had a thunderstorm last night, and so everything is well watered today.
Off to work, hope it rained there too. Will make my day much easier.
Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 10°C and foggy. Off to work where I will be working solo... assistant has the day off for appointments.
I am getting 4 new windows put in my house today! Its too expensive to do them all at once, so we are doing one side each year for the next 3 years.
Today, the north side is the lucky side, plus the 2 small windows in each hall. Hopefully the new windows will help with the winter heating bills.
Have a great day all :)

Today was a busy day. I have taken up making reusable shopping bags as a project to keep me busy and it's grown so much I don't have too much time for anything else. I make bags about 18 inches by 17 inches and miter the bottom corners to make them a couple inches wide. I just give them away. I have all this material stacked all over the room and think I need another set of shelves now but where would I put it. I have a project that calls for 50 bags. There is no deadline and I can do them in lots of five or ten. It takes me about an hour to make one because I sew them with a regular seam and them zigzag around so there is less chance of a seam letting loose if the bag is full. The handles are sewn into the bottom seam and up and around on each side. Very sturdy bags.
We went to St.Vincent's. They are a large amount of ends and pieces of material. Some pieces up to about 4 feet wide. I need about a yard to 60 inches to make a bag depending on size. I make small ones for kids. They love getting a bag to carry things in, just like mom does. Well, I'd better go and do something about supper. We have just been having salads for supper. dooley

Dooley, the bags you gave us are used every week--much stronger and easier to carry than the reusable ones bought at the grocery. Each time I load the bags into the truck I think of you and Brian. And when unloading them after shopping, I think of you and Brian again. Those are very sturdy bags

Thank you. I've been sewing since I was a child of about 8 yrs old. There were 7 children in our family and we lived on a farm. My mom sewed all of our dresses and skirts from feed sacks. They came in all sorts of patterns. Now, I buy odd lot and remnants. I do make some things for myself but not too much. Mostly now it just bags and aprons. dooley

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 12°C and cloudy. My new windows are in and look wonderful. Only problem is the 2 in my bedroom ... the silicone they used to caulk them stinks and the smell kept me up half the night! I hope the smell is gone by bedtime tonight!
Off to another busy day at work.
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all. Currently 9°C and clear. There is a lovely full moon lighting the way this morning.
I had new tires installed on my car yesterday. I can't wait to see the difference going down the highway!
Another busy day at work ahead.
Have a great day all :)

I cleaned out the raised bed in the seasonal garden this morning, with "help" from the two kittens. A 30 minute job turned into almost an hour, but we all had fun!
My wonderful husband came home with a dozen broccoli starts from a big box store. Tomorrow I'll be mixing compost into a raised bed, planting broccoli, and placing wire cages around the young plants. The wire cages are to keep my "helpers" from uprooting and playing with the broccoli!
