I've been missing for a few days. My computer decided it needed a vacation. I'm not to up on fixing computers and my son didn't have a lot of spare time to spend at it so it set here. Today, I went to work and though it took me about four or more hours of clicking here and there and waiting for things to work I finally got it to let me on Firefox again. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work but I'm back finally. Hopefully it won't quit again. dooley

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 13°C and clear.
Alarm woke me with a startle this morning ... I am still very tired. I've been fighting off a cold and maybe thats why. I was in bed early.
Another day of watering and weeding, but at least the temperatures are bearable.
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all. Currently 12°C and clear.
Still no rain in the future forecasts, and so another day of watering. I am getting almost cranky with all the watering I have been having to do... takes away from the time I would have to weed, prune etc and the gardens are needing so much extra work! If we had just one day of steady rain I could get SO much done!
An early work day today, and then skating tonight with my daughter.
Have a great day all :)

We still haven't gotten any rain but it's cooled down some and it's gotten cloudy. I see the leaves on the tree are blowing around some so maybe it'll come tonight. I saw where it might come during the night and into tomorrow. I can stay home and sew if the rains come. I don't go out and drive in the rain. dooley

Oh, Wow I am so thrilled...can you hear the sarcasm in my voice? Our temp at this moment is 108 and feels like 111. I can not wait for tomorrow when the temp is to be 110 with a feels like of a heck of a lot more. And no, this really is not normal for our weather. We have had this type of heat before in 2010 and especially in 1980 and 1954. So also, no we are not used to it.

We are so glad we had a new central air conditioning unit put in back in May, the old one would have run screaming in embarrassment at not being able to keep up with the temps.

Good Friday morning (again!). Apparently I was a little rushed for Friday yesterday haha
I'm very tired today, so TGIF and I can sleep in tomorrow!
Off for one more day of dragging hoses. There is a small chance of rain tomorrow, so I am going to spend the day doing rain dances.
Toni, I just don't know how people function in that kind of heat! I thought our 101°F was bad a few weeks ago, I can't even imagine 111°F!!
I guess no one goes outside mid day?
Have a great day all :)

Netty I sympathize with your hose dragging--I just got in from watering the tomato/pepper patch and I'm drenched, but not with bucket water! Everything that needs to be done outside is done by 10 a.m. and then we are both inside until evening.
Today was "flea treatment" day for the three kitties. We use a topical that goes between the shoulder blades once a month. We have this treatment down to a science--husband grabs a cat, puts it on a table, I apply the liquid and immediately hand over two treats. He is the "bad cop" and I get to be the "good cop," except Buddy considers us both to be reprehensible.

I get watering done by 8 am then close in for the rest of the day, even going out in the evening is not tolerable, the high temps do not peak until between 4-6 pm then there isn't much cool down until after midnight. Where we live is in a heat island....all the heat from downtown Dallas and all the heat rising from the highways in that area is blown to us by the south winds we have at this time of the year so the evenings do not get any cooler for a long time each day. There was an ever so slight cool feeling to the wind today as I went next door to take care of the neighbors dog (she is up north visiting her ill mother until late August)
I almost never uncover the windows so that keeps a lot of the suns heat out in the afternoon and evenings.... and it's a good excuse for never cleaning the window, the dirt makes a great sun barrier. ;)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 18°C and breezy. Another hot day today, but the clouds and a good breeze should help keep it feeling cooler.
Today I am going to empty out the last of the rain from the rain barrels and water the back flower beds. Rain in the forecast for tomorrow, not sure how much we will get, but my rain barrels will be ready. I am getting increasingly flustered with the lack of rain here ... weatherman keeps calling for rain but it doesn't happen. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow!
Laundry to do today, and some clean up and then out to the garden.
Have a great day all :)

Morning all. This morning was a little cooler than it's been in two months but that is just Mother Nature playing a joke on us. Should be back up to 111 or higher this afternoon. When the overnight temp does not get below 80 you know there is no hope for a nice day.

Another hot day here! We went out early while it was still relatively cool and checked the apple trees and cut some grapes. It is really early for the grapes, but the heat was telling on them. We have Mars grapes--small, but very good tasting. The apples are doing well, with the Fujis and Pink Ladies just beginning to ripen.
We are inside for the rest of the day. Husband is watching the British Open and I'm doing laundry and baking Cuban bread rolls.
Hope you all have a good Saturday!

I was watching the weather report on the news this morning, went out a little before 8 a.m. to water plants and feed birds and squirrels before the forecast high of 108 starting building to it's max.....came back in the house to find that the electricity was out!!!! Reported the outage, they said it should be back on by 11 a.m. They got it done by 10:15 so my world is comfy again. We are in a long string of 105-110 deg temps and have a couple of weeks more at least, then comes the real summer heat in August, there have been and will be a lot of outages in the area.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 14°C and cloudy.
We had rain, glorious rain yesterday! It rained for a good part of the day, and then I decided to go out and plant a few perennials that I have had on my plant shelf. As I dug, I discovered that the ground was only wet on top, and not below the first few centimeters! I do hope that today's forecast rain will fix that.
Off to work, where there will be no hose dragging for the first time in weeks, and I might actually get caught up with some work.
Have a great day all :)

113 was the high in my yard yesterday, today might be about 10 degrees cooler. I really could say something extremely sarcastic right now but I am running out of new words to use for the situation. So I think I will go sit in a corner and think all those magnificent curse words to myself to get it out of my system.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 22°C and muggy. The humidity is very high and I am already sweating at 5am.
Off to work and I'll be mulching today. There are thunderstorms in the forecast for this afternoon.
Have a great day all :)
