Good morning! I planted the last of the potatoes this morning under overcast skies and a light mist. Now I'm inside where it is warmer, enjoying the benefits of "a gardener's best friend"--Advil! After a fairly sedentary winter I've jumped into gardening when the weather permits, and my body is telling me, "Slow down, girl!"
Netty, sorry you had such ghastly weather on Monday. I do hope that was the last of it. Have you recovered from your cold?

Good morning all. Our weather is doing the yo-yo thing. It has been years since we have had this many rapid temp changes in one week in years. 70...no 50...not 30 overnight. Beats the onset of 80-90 temps this time last year.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -13°C and overcast. Another weather warning in effect and the school busses are cancelled again.
I don't know what's up with all these bus cancellations ... this is the 11th one this year for my daughter! A couple of them were for good reason, but the other's were ridiculous. This is Canada, it snows, and never before have we had so many cancellations! Today for example, Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area are expecting 'substantial snowfall' and it has started snowing there already. We are an hour and a half north of there, aren't expecting as much snow, and it hasn't starting snowing yet, but we have already had bus cancellations. WHY?
I'll just be glad when winter is over!!
I haven't recovered from my cold yet Marlingardener, perhaps this is why I am cranky haha
Have a great day all :)

Not cranky at all, Netty--you are just suffering from end of winter blues! We used to get those in upstate NY. It should have been the end of weather and we were still blue with cold.
I had planned to plant sugar peas today, but it is foggy and misting. Perhaps tomorrow . . . .
Husband and I have to go out anyway to repair the hens' outside coop. They got rambunctious yesterday and made a hole in wire where it is stapled to wooden uprights. Four took walkabout but seemed happy to be picked up and returned to their inside coop. What amazed us is the size of the hole (small, about baseball size) and that four 12 pound hens could squeeze through without even losing a feather!

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -23°C and sunny. It sure is a cold one today, I didn't expect that! I've had my dog walk, and plugged in my car's block heater so that I can go and do my regular Thursday errands and shopping. Tonight, my daughter has a skating test.
Have a great day all :)

Recuperating. Going to watch the first day of the All-Round Speed Skating World Championships in Calgary today. Of course we will, be rooting for our teams, but also for Canada because of Netty.
    Good luck, Netts !

Good morning all. Having a bit of winter weather...for us anyway. Got three nights coming of below freezing temps and once again and as usual, the chance (albeit very slight to begin with) of a wintry mix has been take out of our forecast for Monday. :( But at least the 70-80's we were having this time last year has not happened yet.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -17°C and sunny. We are well below our 'usual' temperatures for this time of year and will be all week. I think this is the winter that doesn't want to give up! I had a busy weekend, so today I have lots of clean up to do. This afternoon I have a doctors appointment - thought it was about time for a checkup. I haven't had one for a lot of years and thought I was about due. Next week I should go to the dentist too ... I missed my last appointment that was scheduled in November. I need to get all these things done before I'm back to work next month! Also need an oil change in my car, an eye exam, and a thorough spring cleaning haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -13°C and overcast.
I had a busy day yesterday ... I made and canned up some German red cabbage and apples. That's another item off my pantry foods list. I will need to do up some black beans too.
Today I have to go for a blood test. At my Doctors appointment yesterday I got in trouble for not coming in for 10 years and so she has ordered a bunch of tests to check all the usual stuff. After that I guess I'll come home and do some cleaning before my daughter needs picked up from school.
Have a great day all :)

Yeah, Netty doctors are like that....you don't see them for 10 or 15 years and they either give you a lecture or just stare at you in that way they have.

Temp is still below 32 here but climbing into the 40s by late this afternoon. By Thursday the temps will be in the 70s and I will be gettin' out to play in the dirt. I have spent most of the last two-three months making garden changing plans and am itching to get a start on them. Our average date of last frost is March 12 but there have been a few years when we had snow on the ground on March 30th.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -21°C and sunny. Weatherman says we will have one more day of this extreme cold and we should start warming up to more seasonal temperatures by Friday. I sure am sick of winter and I'm ready for some more spring like conditions!
Working on my tax return today, sure hope I get a refund this year.
Have a great day all :)

It was sunny here part of the day but it was still cold. I should have stayed inside but we went out for lunch and then to Festival Foods for a couple of things. We got our exercise walking up and down all of the aisles before we left. I've been coughing a lot and nothing seems to be helping it. I think I will call the doctor in the morning and see if I can get in to see him. Sometimes they will fit me in since our son is a doctor at the same clinic. I think it depends on how I feel and how the weather is shaping up. There isn't supposed to be snow until Sunday but it's cold and windy which seems to be worse.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -15°C and sunny. Not as cold as yesterday, but still cold on my dog walk. The weatherman says we are starting to warm up tonight, with a high of -2°C tomorrow, and +6°C Saturday. Maybe spring is FINALLY on its way? I stopped at the garden gallery yesterday and bought some seeds for the veggie garden, and in a few days I will start some tomato plants, now THAT makes it feel like spring!
Off to do my errands and shopping.
Have a great day all :)
