Good Monday morning all. Currently 21°C and clear.
It's going to be another scorcher today, with a high of 30°C with lots of humidity feeling like 40°C
This brings the chance of thunderstorms and much needed rain. I got some rain at home this weekend, but none at work so another day of dragging hoses is in store for me today.
Have a great day all, stay cool :smt004

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 17°C and clear.
Well still no rain, and so more hose dragging today, trying to keep things alive. Storms passed to the north and south of us, but somehow missed us completely.
At least the humidity is gone, should be bearable today.
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 13°C and clear.
A nice cool morning, I slept like a rock with that cool breeze blowing in my window!
Off to work, this week is going rather quickly!
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning. Don't know if it will really be a good Thursday morning yet, no rain here since June 24 and that was only an inch and since this is August now the chances of rain are fewer and fewer until sometime in Sept.
I hope to spend some time out back cleaning out what is left of the tomatoes plants. They did great for the first few weeks then the rain stopped and watering just has not been enough. That bed is going to become another pollinator bed...at least some creature will be fed by what will grow there. And I have some raw peanuts to stick in the ground just hopefully to have something green there besides the Horse Herb until I get some plants ordered.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 18°C and sunny.
I've got a busy sunday ahead ... picked a ton of green beans and sugar snap peas yesterday. Today I'll be canning the beans and freezing the peas.
Ate my first cherry tomato too ... yum! Can't wait for more. Picked the second cucumber, and some cucamelons, okra, and ground cherries. Not too sure that I like okra or ground cherries ... the okra tastes good but I'm not sure I can get over the sliminess. Ground cherries are kinda seedy, not sure I'll grow them again.
Have a great day all :)

How did you cook the okra?? The best way is to cut it cross ways into about 1/4th inch slices, roll in beaten egg, then dredge in cornmeal (maybe add a little white flour to that) then pan fry in a shallow skillet until golden brown. If you boil Okra you will never like it....that was the only way my Dad ate it...ick!!!

Thanks for the recipe idea Toni!
Good Monday morning all. Currently 14°C and clear. Still no rain.
I'm off to work on this holiday Monday, and it will be a day full of dragging hoses and carrying buckets of water.
Have a great day all :)

We spent a happy hour this morning taking the outer hulls off almonds. Now the nuts are on the dryer in back of the barn.
We had rain yesterday, not a lot but enough to top the rain barrels. Now I'm in no danger of falling in while trying to dip and carry!
We had the last of our fresh green beans with dinner last night. I shed a quiet tear, and my husband did the dance of joy. He swears a man can absorb just so much greenery!

Cloudy and gray with thunderstorms predicted for later today. It's hot and humid. We went out to Walmart on the bus but only got a prescription that I was about out of and I bought some eggs. I wasn't out of eggs but they were on sale. I have some blueberries so I may make some muffins or maybe I'll make some shortcake and put blueberries and bananas on it. This weather has my sinus's messed up a bit so maybe I'll take a nap. dooley

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 18°C and dark. I sure have noticed the days getting shorter already!
There is finally some rain in the forecast today, I do hope it happens. There are huge cracks in the ground from being so dry.
And I sure could use a break in watering things!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, you could have some of our rain. They were talking about flooding in some areas to the north of us this morning. We have had so much rain that it never really gets dried out. The river stays right at the top of the bank. The lake shore is up above normal levels, too. It's supposed to be nice today but rain again tomorrow. dooley

Thanks for the rain Dooley, we got about 40 minutes of rain yesterday, which was good, but we'll take some more if you still have too much.
Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 15°C and cloudy. Off to work, lots of trimming happening today.
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all, and TGIF!
Theres a beautiful breeze blowing in the windows this morning, and it made for good sleeping weather. Thermometer reads 19°C, but I think it's cooler. What a lovely morning!
Off to work, a bit to water today, and lots to weed.
Have a great day all :)

Can’t grow okra here, but that’s the way my mom prepared it. . Otherwise it was used to thicken soups and creole dishes.

Great day to work on the ivy hedges. Found a little abandoned birds nest made of grass and dog hair wedged deep inside. Hubby will have a lot of ivy to mulch this weekend.

Also need to exterminate a ground nest of hornets. I’d forgotten about it until I was bitten this morning dead heading the phlox. Off to get some hornet killer.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 15°C and clear.
I'm volunteering at the soccer field today for a few hours. It the year end tournament and I'll most likely be at the grill cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers.
    It should be fun!
Have a great day all :)
