Good grief, how did I miss this posting!!! (19 apr 2019)
That was an interesting posting and showed some interesting views of your land and planting.
Were you able to harvest any asparagus?
BTW--what was the purpose of those wig-wam - like structures?

Anyway, I saw the harvested garlic you posted...so you must be well-chuffed with that effort. Right? How will you keep them? Did I see onions as well?
One handy way to do it is on this old thread of mine: https://www.gardenstew.com/threads/making-an-onion-string.11490/

Very cool @Sjoerd. I'll try it! I harvested the onions in two goes:. The first batch is already dried trimmed and put in a basket. I'll try the onion string on the second batch. I like the idea of doing two strings:. one for little onions, the other for the big ones.

Do you suppose I could keep the garlic along with the onions in the basket? Or could I braid them in a string?

Yes we did finally get a good harvest of asparagus. Don't know why they were so late this year. Maybe because of all the rain. The fronds are now looking very healthy and strong. I think we will have a good harvest next year.

Those wigwam structures are a mystery. They are on some conservation land near us. There were also some forest chimes there too. Very interesting!

    Thanks got your encouragement!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 9°C and clear.
Spent all afternoon and evening yesterday trying to set up my new iphone phone ... set up my account, transferred data, updated all on a slow internet connection ... took HOURS. Finally finished last night at 11:30pm and went to bed. I was going to hand down my old phone to my daughter this morning, got up and made sure the new one was working and went to delete all the data from the old phone. Part way through the restore process I realized I was restoring my NEW phone to factory settings! UGH!!!! So ... guess what I'm doing today? Again! I can't believe I could be so dumb!! Darn technology lol
Have a great day all :)

Good morning! It's sunny here right now but rain is coming tomorrow evening. It figures since we'll be having an anniversary tomorrow that it would rain. We'll be married 58 years at two pm tomorrow. Seems like a long time but looking back at all we've accomplished it doesn't look long at all. dooley

Glad you liked the onion stringing thread. Good luck with that...anduh, please post some pics of your results.
When I grow red and white onions, I tie them together on the same string---it looks pretty nice in the kitchen. Red and white are the colours of our city's flag.
The garlics-- we plait the dried foliage to make a "string" to hang up. If your garlics are not the stiff-necked variety you could do them just like the onions shown on that thread.
Sometimes we would show these things in the years' end harvest expo. We no longer have these get-together's...but they were fun to have. https://www.gardenstew.com/threads/years-end-expo.30722/#post-278303

The wigwam things we also have here in the forests that we used to walk in.

I must be slow--I just realized that you spoke about the asparagus fronds...that means that you do not harvest blanched ones, right..toy harvest them green. Am I right?

It was cool when we went out this morning but the sun came out and it was a nice morning. But, we had a brief heavy rain storm this afternoon. Glad it was brief as hard as the rain came down. It was hitting and running down the window so we couldn't see out of it. Dooley

I am screamingly tired of summer temps. No 100+ temps for a few days now but there is a hint of them returning early next week. Often over the past few weeks I have thought "a little rain would be nice"....be careful what you put out to the universe cause it has a very perverse sense of humor....a little rain is what we got about 2/10ths of an inch on my yard. NOT funny up there.

Mom and baby doing great, and hopefully released from hospital today.
Big brother will be meeting little brother this morning and he is super excited!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 16°C and overcast. We had thunderstorms in the middle of the night, but I was so tired I slept through them!
It's feeling very fall like this morning, and for the first time in months I am wearing pants, socks, and shoes to work. We are at the day's high right now.
Have a great day all :)

    Friday morning all, and TGIF!
Its been a short week that has felt very long!
Off to work to try to figure out how to water gardens when our water system is down. I guess I'll try a rain dance and then hope for a miracle!
Have a great day all :)
