Had an almost relaxed and quiet New Year's Eve....until some of our neighbors who have not been in this country very long decided to celebrate by shooting into air. Never heard any thing hit the roof or cars but don't know about others in the neighborhood.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 4°C and overcast.
My eyes widened when you said "neighbors who have not been in this country very long decided to celebrate by shooting into air", but then I remembered that carrying guns is legal in Texas! Shooting at night is still a horrible thing for them to do (especially if they had been drinking) and I hope nothing got hurt. Guns going off here in Ontario usually results in a call to 911 as guns, for the most part, are illegal. Despite that, Ontario's first murder of the year was a shooting and it happened on the first day of the year. I don't get it.
I'm a day late this week, but I'm off to do my errands and shopping.
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -4°C and sunny. I had a lovely dog walk and now I'm home enjoying a cup of tea.
It's the last day of Christmas holidays, and tomorrow things will get back to normal around here again!
Lots of laundry to catch up on today, and tomorrow the tree comes down!
Have a great day all :)

It's a bit cloudy here today and maybe an inch of snow coming this afternoon. Not as warm as the last week. But, it's January in Wisconsin and I think it's supposed to be cold. Maybe we'll have an early spring but I'm not counting on it. I use a walker so I don't much like snow. It's hard to push a walker through snow when your knees complain about it. I moved my jade plants in front of the windows so they do get some sun when it's not cloudy. I think they like just the light, too. You all have a nice day now. dooley

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -4°C and overcast.
We had some snow overnight, just enough to make everything white again.
Spring cleaning might start today, or maybe not. I'm still getting the last of the Christmas decorations put away.
I'm not really feeling too ambitious this morning, but maybe a coffee will help haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -13°C and clear. A cold morning, but warming today and then raining later. Weird winter weather for sure!
Its Thursday so I'm off to do my errands and shopping. I am so predictable!
Have a great day all :)

    Happy Friday, y'all!
For those of you who work for pay, Friday is not the end of the work week when you retire. The hens still need feeding, the coop needs cleaning, the gardens need harvesting and weeding, and there are all those little repair jobs that have been waiting. However, you get to do all these "chores" at your own pace and at your own convenience (unless something is leaking).
Today was overcast and threatening rain, so I made a vat of chili, did some house cleaning and laundry, and kept a close eye on the cats, hens, and wild birds. I find those critters are much more accurate at predicting weather than our local TV forecasters. Cats are in the shelter, hens won't go into the outside coop, and the wild birds are feeding like crazy, so I think we are in for rain, and possibly high winds.
This evening we will hunker down with Cajun jambalaya, watch the PBS Newshour, and then another episode of the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions. It scares me how many of the answers my husband knows. Thank heavens I can cook, because he sure didn't marry me for my smarts!

Good Saturday afternoon all. Currently 5°C and raining. It has been raining all night, the snow has all melted, and now the weatherman says the temperature is going to drop. Then the rain will start to coat everything with ice, and then finally it will turn into freezing rain then snow. And of course the wind will pick up as well. It's going to get very messy out there later!
I am home for the day, and probably the rest of the weekend.
Have a great day all :)

Netty, we were watching the storm's progress on the weather channel, and I wondered if you were affected. Guess you are, and I hope you and yours can stay home warm and safe.
We had rain (9/10th of an inch) last night, along with thunder and lightning. It cleared off shortly after midnight and this morning was windy and overcast, but nothing else.
I did my usual "it's cold outside and I'll huddle in the kitchen" and baked 14 French rolls. This afternoon I plan to vegetate!

It wasn't a very nice day here either. We had some snow last night, but only an inch or two. It was drifting some and cold so we didn't go out. It may snow 5 to 7 inches tonight. That's so the football game tomorrow will be played in snow and all the seating will be snowy and cold. It's a big Packer playoff game. dooley

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -9°C and the weather is undecided. One minute it is sunny, then its snows, then its sunny, then its cloudy ...
I was awoken by an emergency alert this morning ... it said an 'incident' was reported at the nuclear generating station and that people within 10km of the station should be on alert. I am about 81 km away so I didn't panic, although this was the first time I have ever heard such an alert. There was nothing on the news, website, social media and people within 10km were in a panic. 2.5 hours later they sent out another one that said the alert was sent out in error. I think someone is going to lose their job over that one.
Our rain and ice storm wasn't too bad here. We got tons of rain and my sump pump is working overtime, but we were spared thick ice buildup. Thank goodness for that!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -4°C and overcast.
I've got a batch of beans soaking, and I'll be making baked beans and canning them today. My daughter has also requested some pasta salad, and so I think it's going to be a day in the kitchen. Not sure what's for dinner yet, but I guess I'll do that too!
Have a great day all :)

Hi all! We have fog, dense wet fog, so like Netty I'll be in the kitchen today. Later I'll go clean the coop and pick some lettuce (if I can find it in this pea-souper we are having.)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -6°C and overcast. We had some light snow overnight.
It's Thursday so that means it's shopping day! I don't need much today, mostly just fruits and veggies and a bag of milk.
But that doesn't mean it will be an easy shop ... it's amazing what can find it's way into my cart!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, a bag of milk? Isn't that called an udder? And how do you get it in your car with the cow attached?:D
It is drizzly and cool here--in the mid 50's and with an uncomfortable wind. I gritted my teeth and went to the garden to pick lettuce and cut broccoli side shoots, then came in and poured a cup of hot coffee!
