Sjoerd, husband likes broccoli, just not twice a day! I planted six broccolis which made nice heads and now are producing side shoots. Two people, six heads and lots of shoots--the math tells the story . . . .
Congratulations on your cleaning spree. Even the balcony? Wow!

Thanks Jane, it was a big job.
Oh, I see what you mean. Yes, that is lots of broc.
I especially like broccoli, so I could easily eat it twice a day. haha.

Another chilly, cloudy day and I am loving it. Next week we are supposed to have 3 days in the low 60's so I will be out in the garden picking up sticks that could not stay attached to the trees and were knocked down by the high wind pruning the small not healthy twigs out of the large Hackberry trees and putting down some mulch. The twigs and some of the leaves will piled up in the back corner under the Hackberry tree to slowly create a wildlife habitat.
I do not rake leaves out the yards so the mulch will help create some good compost in the beds but there is always an abundance of them to sweep up off the sidewalk and driveway.

A break in the rain, a walk downtown and around the lake with a friend and tea afterwards with a great view of the Sound and Olympic Mountains :)

Hi Sjoerd! Canadian Nationals were 2 weeks ago ... lots of great skaters and a few new Champions! My daughter isn't in that high competition stream ... YET!
Good Friday morning all. Currently -5°C and overcast. Just having a cup of tea trying to get motivated. It's not working haha
Counting the days until I can play in my garden
Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Overcast today and temps in the 40deg f range. Got plenty to do inside but Saturday, Sunday, Monday and they have added Tuesday to the nice weather days prediction so those will be my playing in the dirt days....or at least getting the habitat started in the back corner and putting down mulch.

We had our two sets of Nationals last week and the week before. The first week was for the all-rounds (long distances) and last week was for the short distance sprinters.
Well my fingers are crossed for your daughter. Gosh--can you imagine how great that would be to see her on the telly, or if she came to Thialf in Heerenveen to skate. We might even get to meet-up. I know that's all "future music" as we say here, but just imagine that she will be good enough. Just imagine.

Yesterday got a few more buttercups pulled. Today is pouring rain, so we’re going out to order new countertops for the kitchen and maybe a new stove. We’ll see if we can reach a happy consensus.

Interesting Sjoerd ... long and short distance skaters aren't really something we see here much. My daughter is a figure skater ... freeskate programs with spins, jumps and lots of footwork. I cant think of any clubs around here that even offer speed skating programs.
Good Sunday morning all. Currently -4°C and overcast. Today is the only day in the next 8 days that I will be able to stay home and get anything done. It's going to be a busy week, full of skating, Dr's appointments, meetings, more appointments and more skating. I might make up some good hearty freezer meals for the week today.
Have a great day all :)

Oh silly me....I never even stopped to think that she might be a figure skater. Oh dear. Please excuse me, it is just that Canada has so many excellent speed skaters. In fact one of our speed skaters married one of your female champs.

Well that is very interesting Sjoerd! I always like watching the speed skating on the winter olympics.
Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast. I had a nice long walk with the dog this morning, now a cuppa tea and then I'm going to start cleaning.
Lots of decluttering I want to finally get to.
Have a great day all :)

The weather guy took one of my sunny gardening days away from me and moved the fore cast of rain and possible ice/snow wintry mix up to today. Not complaining at all, it has been years since we had any real winter weather...just hope the Mother Nature isn't playing an early April Fools joke on me.

Toni, our local weather forecasters are saying that tomorrow (Wednesday) will be cold, windy, and wet with the possibility of sleet. Of course, these are the same guys that told us that "you never know when it will rain" and forecast sunshine and mild temperatures on the day the straight line winds hit.
Other than preparing for bad weather tomorrow by cutting broccoli, picking lettuce, doing more weeding and bringing in wood for the living room stove if we lose power, we are just waiting to see what really happens.
Today we have the house open with 72 degree temperatures and a very mild breeze. The cats are lounging in the sunshine and the humans (cats' staff) are trying to get ready for any bad weather that may come our way!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -10°C and overcast.
Had a nice long dog walk and now I'm warming up with a big cup of tea.
I'll be working on some de-cluttering again today. I cleaned out my bedroom closet yesterday and parted with a giant bag of clothing that, who am I kidding, will never fit me again.
Lot's more room in that closet now! I might just tackle part of the basement today!
Have a great day all :)

Thursday and snow. Yes, we have about 1/2" of snow. The cats are unhappy, the hens are unhappy, I'm unhappy, and my husband thinks it is hilarious. I may throw a snowball at him . . . .
Schools are closed, the radio and TV are telling people to stay home if possible, and if driving, be slow and aware of slick roads. The road I can see is completely clear, thanks to the sunshine. I may go into town and grocery shop later today, just to hear the tales of "fighting the elements" to get to work. Snow hits Texans hard!
Here is what we are facing--probably will survive but as I said, the cats are not happy. Doesn't that paw print in the snow just break your heart?
