Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 2°C and sunny. There is still a pretty good wind blowing out there. It's been very windy a lot lately, it looks like we are going to have another windy year like we had in 2004.
Thanks for asking MG ... Sargent is completely recovered from his knucklebone incident. It was a tough couple of days there but he is back to his regular old self. It came out that DH had cut the knuckle bone in half for Sargent and I have a feeling that's where the problems came from. He must have left some small pieces that the dog swallowed. He threw most of them back up but there was one that we had to wait for him to pass. Thankfully he did pass it, avoiding surgery, and felt better almost instantly. No more knuckle bones for Sargent!
I'm off early to get some groceries this morning.
Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 4°C and sunny. The wind is finally gone too.
Heading out this morning to help a friends Mom with her garden. She is in her 70's and does really well on her own, but sometimes she needs a little bit of muscle. That's where I come in ... I help topdress, mulch, divide perennials, prune trees and shrubs and that kinda stuff. She really likes to have someone to talk garden to.
Maybe when I get home I can get to work in my own yard now that the weather is starting to co-operate!
Have a great day all :)

Hiya all. I think we are having an amazing spring season this year. Not too hot or too cold. No late frosts and rain and sun.

Odif, so happy you are having a good spring season! We are, too, except for perhaps a bit too much rain that keeps us from doing our normal gardening. Right now it's a race between the grass and the cucumbers. I'm trying to fix the odds in favor of the cucumbers.
Went to the grocery today and found it well stocked. Also stopped by the feed store to get layer pellets, and there was a gentleman there with his wife's milk cow in a carrier. I commented on how lovely that cow was, and asked if it was a Swiss. He said yes, and then that he was taking it to be, umm, well.... and he was staring down and trying to not offend a "lady." I asked of the cow was going to be "refreshed" (bred with a bull so she would calve and give milk) and he looked so relieved! We talked cows for a while and we both left happy to have met. I love feed stores!

Ours has been cold, but suprisingly it is tailing off into a dry start for summer which is kind of concerning.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 6°C and overcast. As much as 6 degress is cool, it is the warmest it has been for quite a few days and I am thankful. We are over the polar vortex now and the days are finally getting warmer. Today, once it warms up a little more, I am going to finally start hardening off my tomato seedlings. I am 2 weeks behind for doing this.
I will probably work outside today until the rain starts. I finally feel like I am able to move forward with something and that is going to help my mental health tremendously!
Have a great day all :)

15c/59F here... good rain lately but not too much so were not drowning. Finally in the spring swing...just a few days back we we're still freezing overnight! That is late for this area. Good morning all!

"mum, welcome to the forum! Please tell us in what country, what state you live. Makes conversations easier and much more informative.
We have had late coolness, too. However, in Texas you don't get freezes in April or May, at least not in central Texas where we are.
I love that phrase "spring swing." So descriptive!

So, I'm kind of happy, and kind of annoyed. A few days ago, at my request, an animal control officer came and set up some live traps for our ferals. I had asked that they trap all 5 cats for TNR (trap, neuter, return). They managed to trap 2, and took them in, and bright them back last evening.
So that's a relief, that Mama and one of her kittens (from last year's litter) won't be pew-pewing any babies out.
But...there's still 3 that need to be fixed, and I didn't manage to catch the person who brought the 2 back to ask if they were planning to come back out for the others. Which means I'll have to call them today. Grr.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 10°C and foggy. We should be getting a good rain today, and we really need it!
I had a horrible nights sleep so it might just be the perfect day for a nap haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast. We had thick fog, but it has now burned off.
We had a good rain yesterday, and today the heat is finally going up so I think we will see lots of things grow.
I have my tomato seedlings outside hardening off and hope to get them planted in a few days. They are getting tall and want to be in the ground.
I did pot up one planter by the front door, and today I'll get the rest of the planters out of the shed and figure out what I want to plant.
I seem to be spending more time at the greenhouse since my daughter started working there haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 11°C and sunny. What a lovely day!
We do have an 'extreme rain event' expected tomorrow, that they are predicting could bring us 100mm of rain. This has put my plans of planting on hold.
So many extremes in the world these days that nothing could surprise me anymore.
Today I hope to finally get the brush pile burned.
Have a great day all :)

Mondays are nice, especially when the sun is out, the breeze is gentle, and there is a whole week of fun stuff ahead! I cleaned house until the grass somewhat dried off (have I mentioned Texas is humid) then weeded the squash and cucumbers, checked the green beans, and admired the pumpkin blossoms. Of course I was supervised in the outside activities by two cats. Tonight's dinner is spaghetti carbonara with toasted baguettes drizzled with garlic infused olive oil. Might as well top off a great day with one of our favorite meals!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 10°C and windy with overcast skies.
A few more days of bringing my seedlings inside and outside everyday, and then on Friday I should be able to plant them in their garden places.
Its very windy again today and that adds to my theory of 2020 being a windy season.
I hope to get the back gardens weeded this week as I want to have that done before I plant the annuals.
Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 11°C and sunny. I've been for a power walk and now I'm getting ready to head to town for some groceries.
Now that garden centers are open here, I think I'll have an extra stop today!
Have a great day all :)
