Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 20°C and cloudy. There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for today.
Off to work, where progress is slow and steady. It's a little tricky being the only gardener where there once was 5, but I'm making progress.
Anyone else finding plant shortages this year? Greenhouses quickly sold out of their stock this year, and annual plants are almost impossible to find around here (the new toilet paper?)
Have a great day all :)

Such a pleasant day today! The weather has been cooler and the humidity lower, so we opened the house and enjoyed the breeze. Husband did some work in the workshop, and I went into town to get chicken feed and groceries. At the feed store, there was only one bag of chicken pellets left, and they had put it back for me! It even had my name written on it! Those guys are so thoughtful, and I'm glad I took them butterscotch pecan cookies.
Nettie, plant scarcity is evident here, also. I had a terrible time finding CalWonder bell pepper starts this spring. I had extra herbs that I had planted from seed, and the community garden snapped up every one that I didn't need. I am thinking that for the fall garden I may need to start more plants from seed in trays and under grow lights.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast. We had a lovely thunderstorm overnight and that means no watering today! The temperatures are much better today as well, and the humidity is gone. It should be a great day for working!
Have a great day all :)

Jane, oh Jane---tell me what butterscotch cookies are.Tell me about those.
Butterscoth is something that we do not really have here.

Sjoerd, I will send you the recipe. It is quite simple--contains brown sugar, egg, flour, etc. and the nuts are optional. It is a refrigerator cookie, which means you make a log of the dough (messy, but necessary), refrigerate it for at least two hours but longer is better, slice, and bake.

Good Friday morning all. Currently just 9°C and breezy. The breeze was really cold blowing in my window, making it hard to climb out of my cozy bed.
Finally Friday, and it's payday so its a good day!
Counting down the hours until my weekend begins.
Have a great day all :)

This arrived a couple of days ago.

It's a new record I bought from America, but it sounds very sixties which is why I liked it and ordered it, it will fit in well in my Motown and similar, jukebox.

It wasn't expensive only about a fiver, but the postage was three times that!

My 1G camera memory card ran out before the end of the video!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 9°C and clear. Another beautiful day ahead!
I'm feeling a little burned out today, so I'm going to take it easy today. Keeping my fingers crossed for a visit from my grand kids, since we are now 'allowed' to have gatherings of up to 10 people. I haven't seen them since the beginning of March and I feel like I'm missing them growing up!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, I hope the grands come and you get to kiss and hug and do all the "granny" things. Would that I had enjoyed a grandmother like you!
I tied up tomatoes, harvested a few along with a few cucumbers, watered squash, and did the "cat dance" back to the house. What is a cat dance, you ask? When walking, you are carrying a calico and a ginger is making figure eights around your ankles, and occasionally flopping down to get his/her tummy rubbed. Between not dropping one cat and not stepping on the other, I have learned some very complicated cat dance steps!
Husband watered the apple, almond, and pear trees this morning, and finished mowing the barn lot. This afternoon will be staying inside where it's cool and perhaps watching an old movie.

Good Monday morning all. Currently just 7°C! The cold air blowing in my window made me sleep like a baby last night!
I hope my peppers and cucumber plants aren't shivering out there!
Off to work for a day of mostly watering.
Have a great day all :)

Hey all. Not much going on here. One of my younger sisters is due to have her first kid any day now (she was actually due a few days ago). Last night and this morning the weather was perfect for leaving the windows open, it was 50º when I went downstairs for work :D

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 9°C and clear. Looks like another great day ahead, but tomorrow the heat and humidity begin again!
I've been working hard, but the ground is SO dry that its hard to do any digging. Hopefully some rain soon, as I am already getting tired of watering.
Neighbour was baling hay yesterday and had a roll catch fire. I've always heard that could happen, but thats the first time I have seen it happen. It was just left out in the field to smolder, and smoked for many hours.
Off to work, have a great day all :)

Good morning, and I had such a good morning today! I did my weekly trip into town to get groceries, and almost everyone was wearing masks. A very nice and TALL gentleman reached far back on a shelf to get the soda I needed, and a young man who looked like a weight lifter insisted on helping me unload my cart. He was so brawny I was afraid he was going to pick up the cart and dump the contents on the conveyor belt. Such nice people!
When I got home I made tuna salad (my husband's favorite) and gave a small bowl of the tuna water to Cali and Buddy. Seeing those little pink tongues lapping as fast as possible is always cute.
First thing this morning I went out to release the hens to the outside coop and fill their feeder, and I stopped by the seasonal garden and picked a couple of cucumbers and a squash.
I think I'll just sit and smile this afternoon.

Sounds like a great morning MG!
Good Friday morning all, and TGIF!! Currently 12°C and clear.
Such a busy week and I am worn out! I can't wait for the end of the workday when I can come home and put my feet up!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, almost all our mornings are great! This morning I weeded the cucumber bed and picked a couple of cukes, checked the squash and found they would go another day or two before picking, which gives me time to find someone who either needs squash or has left their car unlocked!
My dear husband is making a table to replace the porch table that was damaged in a recent storm. We really don't need the table, but the cats like to lounge on it or under it, so perhaps we do need a table!
I have 12 loaves of onion and herb bread rising. One can never have enough onion and herb bread, especially when the onion harvest was good, and one has an abundance of herbs!
