VERY GOOD MORNING HERE !! A total of 5.25 inches of rain half on Sunday and half last night....everything is soggy and wonderful out in the gardens now. Possibly more later but I am happy now. I am just hoping that the 108-110 temps will become fewer and far between.

    That is awesome Toni!
Good Thursday morning all. Currently 13°C and clear.
We had more rain last night, but today is supposed to be clear. It will be nice to get something done in the gardens other than watering!
Dentist appointment today to fix a tooth that broke the other day. It's a molar, and I hope they can fix it!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 11°C and clear. It sure is starting to feel like fall out there!
Spent yesterday cooking down tomatoes - in 2 batches because my cooker wasn't big enough. Today, I'll be running everything through the mill and canning it up.
Had a surprise yesterday when I checked the garden ... the bean plants were loaded with green beans! Canned up that too, and my pantry is starting to fill up.
I also picked a gorgeous Butternut squash yesterday. I love harvest season!
Have a great day all :)

Oh, I feel really inspired when I read of your processing. I would like to see your pantry when its full please.
I am beginning to worry a bit here as I still have parsnips, beetroot and leeks to harvest. Alarmingly, the freezer is already full. Oh dear.

Good Labor Day morning, all! Unlike the above posters, all I've harvested and hung to dry is thyme. We are spending a quiet day at home with husband laboring on the mower and me laboring in the kitchen. The cats don't believe in labor. . . .

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 9°C and cloudy I think. It's really dark when I get up now haha
Off to work, wearing pants for the first time since spring. The high today will only get to 18°C and rain is expected.
Hoping to harvest some pumpkins today!
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all, and TGIF! Currently just 10°C and clear.
Another week done already, time is flying past!
This week has felt very autumn like, with cool temperatures and wet days. Looking at my veggie garden I've come to the sad realization that garden season is almost over.
There will still be some canning days and cool weather crops, but tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are dying back. I'm just not ready for this yet!
Off to work, counting down the minutes until I am done for the week.
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast. We are most certainly going to get some rain today.
I have been stewing down tomatoes in the slow cooker overnight, and today I will can them. There should be one more canning day for tomatoes next week and then they should be done for this year. I've had to order myself a new shelf for all my canned goods and it should arrive by the end of the week.
    Today, laundry and house work.
Have a great day all :)

Went plant shopping this morning...there is a large empty space in the front garden that I plan on filling up with Gaillardia and sweet potato vine. We have some wonderfully cool temps coming this next week....nothing like the 99 to 105 degree temps of the last 4 months ... so I should be able to get more done in the garden than just watching plants give up and die from heat stroke.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 13°C and dark. I hate it when the days get shorter and its dark when I get up.
Off to work, where I have an indoor job to get me going until the sun comes up. Today I will finish harvesting the pumpkins and gourds and clean out the patch.
Lots to do when this time of year!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, I spent some time today taking out several tomato plants.
Everything on earth needs down time. As much as I dislike cold,
I know Spring will come again.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently just 3°C and we have a frost warning in effect.
I was out picking everything I could from the garden and my counter is overloaded with peppers, eggplant, cucumbers and tomatoes. I woke in the middle of the night when I remembered that I forgot to cover my basil! I'll check on it in a minute when I'm out with the dog and hopefullly its not too late to throw a blanket over it. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Off to work, where the warm water from Lake Simcoe will keep it warm enough to prevent frost there today.
Have a great day all :)

I guess you could say that we are having a 'cold snap' too.....only 85 for a high today....Anybody want to swap with me. I mean you can have my warming temps and I will gladly take your colder temps. Nothing in my garden that would be damaged by colder temps...it's pretty much all been taken down by the 100+ temps and so very little rain of the past 5 months.

Netty, I'm in SE Michigan, across the lake from Canada.
I do hope your Basil resisted frost. I probably should gather
a few Basil leaves before frost comes our way. I have only
frozen Basil. Is it possible to dry it as I do Parsley, Mint, Borage?
In fact, I have Parsley drying in the rear window of my station
    wagon.
Toni, your growing problems seem worse than freezing.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 11°C and clear.
It looks like my last minute attempt to save the basil worked! The 2 little pieces that didn't get covered turned brown, so I am glad that I was able to get most of it covered.
Nothing else seemed to be bothered by the cold too much, but there isn't much left out there anymore.
I didn't get a chance to check the flower beds, but I have mostly perennials so they should be fine.
Today we are going back up to 27°C so it's back to shorts today.
Have a great day all :)
