Good Sunday morning all. Currently 5°C and overcast. There is rain in the forecast for later.
We had a great early dinner with the kids and grandkids, and had a nice early night with full bellies. Nothing quite like the sleep you get when you have a belly full of turkey!
Today, we are off to do a round of empty booze bottle pickups for the skating club, which is having a drive to raise money to bring down the cost increase due to Covid. Our target is $2500 for fundraising this year, and hopefully we can reach that mark.
When we get back I'll be making some turkey soup.
Have a great day all :)

Netty, I think the turkey soup is the best part of Thanksgiving,
after the homemade stuffing. Or as they say Down South, the
    dressing.
I hope you have success with your bottle drive,

Netty, you have me looking forward to our USA Thanksgiving even more! I love holidays that center around food (I was going to say around a dead bird, but thought better of it).
I had a nice e-mail from General Foods about their unbleached Gold Medal flour that I had praised. I like getting feedback from businesses.
Got the house dusted, cut a bouquet of zinnias for the dining room, and had a sit on the patio to cuddle Buddy the cat. It's a bit chilly at 65 degrees, but the cat was warm on my lap and that's all that counts. I'm inside now, thawing out . . . .

LOL Marlin, truth is truth. WE create a fantastic meal centered around a dead bird. The stuffing/dressing/depending on where you grew up.
63 isn't a bad temp. If the sun shines.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast. More rain in the forecast today.
I was chilled to the bone yesterday, so today I have packed the last of the turkey soup in a thermos for lunch today. I am deep into garden cleanup now, and hope I get done before the weather gets really cold. I do not like to garden in the snow!!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, I feel the same, no winter gardening for me.
I bet that soup went down easily and with gusto!

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 7°C and overcast. We have rain in the forecast again today.
Off to work, where fall cleanup is going slowly. Too many jobs to do for the amount of staff and I am constantly being pulled from the garden to help with other tasks.
I'm going to have to find a way to 'hide' so I can get stuff done! Ha!
Have a great day all :)

Good morning Netty. You are a valuable asset at your workplace.
I hope your workday speeds by and you can concentrate on home stuff.

We had 47 degrees this morning.

Good Friday morning all and TGIF! Currently 10°C and clear.
I worked out in the rain all day yesterday, making sure to keep my rain suit on and drying it at lunch time. Cold times are coming and I need to get everything done before then!
Today, the temperatures are going up to 22°C so I'm going to try to get as much done as I can. I'll be starting with planting bulbs this morning, and then back to fall cleanup this afternoon.
Looking forward to my weekend ahead.
Have a great day all :)

Hope you all are looking forward to a great weekend! We are--tomorrow husband starts building a cabinet for our bathroom remodel, and I'm planting garlic. I finished prepping the garlic bed this morning with a good raking-in of compost. Timi enjoyed helping and by rolling around in the bed got the soil tamped down nicely.
A cold (?) front is supposed to move in this afternoon, so we are having chili for dinner. We may have to shut the windows tonight!

Well the front with rain moved through here overnight, 52 degrees right now and falling....first measurable rain we have had in my yard in months. Windy, rainy and wonderful. We sleep much better in colder temps so our windows will be open tonight...we have a window air conditioner to use in addition to the whole house air conditioning system when it's too hot to sleep comfortably..

Actually, the difference between dressing and stuffing is inside or outside of the bird...stuffing is inside...i.e. stuffing the bird..., dressing is outside ..i.e. dressing the platter around the bird..

Oh wow, I woke up to 48 degrees this morning! After feeding the hens and opening the outside coop, I scurried inside to a cup of hot coffee. I'm taking advantage of the cooler weather and baking apple/pecan sweet breads to pop into the freezer for Christmas goody trays. As the old song said, there will be a lot of shakin' (and bakin') goin' on for the next month.

I like the smell of that cake, Jane. Put the brown juice on, I’ll be there in an hour!

Toni, I'm not sure my people ever learned the difference between
stuffing and dressing, but those Southern women sure knew how to put on a good meal. Thank you for educating me on the reason each has
it's own place. Now I know which term to use.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast.
I have this years last load of tomatoes cooking down for sauce in the kitchen this morning. I still have carrots, beets and kale in the garden, and other than that the gardening is over for the year. I am busy planning next years garden now. Lots to do today in the house. I'll get to the garden cleanup next weekend - it looks warmer than today!
Have a great day all :)
