Good Wednesday morning, all! A friend's mother was under the weather, undecided if it was the flu or a bad cold, and wasn't eating much. My friend took a loaf of pumpkin bread I'd made to her house to share with family. She thought she'd like a slice, and then another! We are all so happy because she is such a nice lady and so kind.
I went grocery shopping, and the meat manager had saved a small chicken for me. We will be having roast chicken tomorrow. Tonight it's ham and roasted sweet potatoes and sliced tomatoes from the garden. Yes, the garden! Before we had our first frost I nipped out and picked every green tomato I could find (which was easy because they were volunteers on the compost pile) and they have been slowly ripening in the kitchen.
So far, this year is shaping up to be pretty good. :fingerscrossed:

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -5°C and sunny.
Yes Sjoerd, my daughter has been keeping in shape during her time off the ice ... we have an exercise bike that has been getting a lot of action, as well as walking, stretching, jumping and spinning. She will be in great shape to return to the ice when our lockdown is (hopefully!) over on the 23rd.
My first seed order has shipped, so I am patiently awaiting their arrival. I wont be able to plant any for a while yet, but I will be ready when the time comes. I had been eying up the 'Queen Red Lime' Zinnias for a quite a while and so this year I finally ordered some. I also spotted some 'Zinderella' Zinnias and thought they looked cool so I ordered them too haha
Most of my order was vegetable seeds, so I thought a few flowers would be nice.
Spring cleaning continues this morning, and then off to Dads later this afternoon.
Have a great day all :)

What a beautiful way to start the day sitting in front of a warm fire and reading a sweet card from loved ones (my son and DOL).

My son works as a chef/cook. He decided to give back by working at the hospital and giving blood after a catastrophic illness. All preCovid.

Everyone here at the Stew makes me smile too with their generosity of spirit.

Ah Jewell, I'm a pretty hardened, heartless person, but that post made me tear up a bit.

Good Friday afternoon all. Currently -8°C and sunny. It's cold but a beautiful day and I took the dog on a long dog walk. Now I'm pondering what my next cleaning project will be.
It should probably be my bedroom, so that's where I'll start. Lots of dusting to be done!
Have a great day all :)

Did you see anything interesting on your long walk? I’ll bet that outdoors excursion felt good.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -5°C and overcast. My dog walk was cut short by 2 loose dogs down the road this morning. We will go again later.
I got part of my bedroom cleaned out and dusted. I have a large bag for donation that I will have to store until lockdown is over. I think our lockdown will most likely be extended as Ontarios Covid numbers are higher than ever right now, most likely due to Christmas visiting. Lockdown was supposed to end on January 25th and that is still over 2 weeks away, but if numbers don't stop going up in the next day or two we could be in trouble.
    Continuing spring clean up today.
Have a great day all :)

Netty, our local charity-run thrift store is overwhelmed with donations. You aren't the only one de-cluttering!
It is cold today, but sunny and no wind (yet). I've fed the hens, turned off their heat lamps, cuddled two cats, and am plotting what to bake/cook today.
The virus is taking a mental toll on some folks around here. They phone to complain about isolation, not being able to do this or that. I tell them our grandparents and parents were asked to go to war, and we are being asked to stay home. We can handle this!

I am so upset, ticked off, and mad:mad:. It is snowing here, not a little drift of white stuff but about an inch and it is still coming down. The cats are bumfuzzled, having never seen this before. The hens are inside, missing their noontime stroll, and the wild birds are hitting the suet and seed feeders as if there is no tomorrow, which may be an accurate assessment of the situation.
Comfort food today for lunch and dinner, and I'm going to close the curtains so I don't have to see the desecration outside.

I would love to have snow on the ground. I am in north Dallas county with flurries but nothing is sticking.

Snow ? What is that ? It has only gotten slightly below freezing a couple of times this winter (?). Heavy rains that are monsoon like we’ve had. Nice day today though with high clouds and sun peeking through occasionally. Have sat out in the shack to enjoy the weather, birds, squirrels and warmth while on Zoom calls.
