Good Monday morning all. Currently -9°C and overcast.
I managed to get most of the brush pile burned yesterday, but there is still lots to be burned under the snow. At least the large branches are gone.
It looks like temperatures in the plus double digits are possible this week ... that should get rid of the snow!
Have a great day all :)

Netty....where you burnt the brush— do you use the ash around select plants in your garden? It will be rich in K and other elements.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 0°C and sunny. It's going to be another beautiful day!
Hoping the rest of the snow around my fire pit will melt today so that I can rake up and burn what ever is left.
No Sjoerd, I have never used the ashes around select plants in my gardens. I have a year round supply of ash here and we sometimes spread the cooled ash down in a section of woods on our property. I don't even put it in my compost heap. I once heard that its very easy to add too much so I don't add any. I should do some reading on the matter.
I have someone coming to measure for some new windows today. We had been doing a couple of new windows every year but last year Covid made it tricky. I'd like to get at least 4 new ones this year, we'll see what the estimate says. I also have my vehicle loaded for a trip to the dump this morning and we have skating later on. It's going to be another busy day!

Better to be sure before changing habits. You are right.
What are they going to do to your windows?

Well, once again I'm posting at the end of the day--Tuesday. It has been a good day. I went to the grocery and found everything I needed, husband found nice broccoli starts at a nursery, and we have a set of shelves in the guest bedroom ready to accept the newly re-potted herbs.
Our weather, although overcast and cloudy all day, was warm with temperatures hitting 75 degrees!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 0°C and sunny. Another lovely dog walk and this morning we saw some sure signs of spring ... a Robin and a Red Winged Blackbird!
Today I'm headed to the arena for a season end clean up. Almost time to play in the gardens again, so I'd better get the other stuff finished up!
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast.
It's been a busy few days ... a clean out at Dads, skating with DD, cleaning my own house, helping a friend move and now the time change has caused a lost hour of sleep.
Had intentions of sleeping in today, but the dog got me up. I'm heading off to see Dad, and then home to get some work done.
Have a great day all :)

I'll be glad when Lockdown is over and the theatres re-open. There were a lot of good shows on, before they were all closed.

Chuckle Jane. Yes, I just sort of shake my head. Back when I was working fulltime, the changing caused me more hassle than help personally. But now, whether the “sort of time” changes or not has almost no impact upon me, for I do not use timepieces very often. Clock time is not as important to gardeners as other folk because our work is determined by natural events, not timepiece numerals.
Perhaps an unacceptable standpoint for some folks, but It works for me.

I had never heard the time change until my Dad was sent to Endicott, New
York for his IBM basic training in 1954. They used it but back then it was just a "Yankee thing" Texas didn't. As kids we kind of liked being able to stay up later but that also meant that the Drive-in Movie theaters did not even start the cartoons and movies until after 9 p.m and we fell asleep before seeing the end of the movie.

I go by "sun time." Our neighbors in town were amazed that I could look at the sky and tell approximately what time it was. Watches don't last long for me, but the sun is usually there!
