Netty, you and Sargent are brave and very good neighbors!
This morning is chilly, so I'm cleaning house (currently taking a break from dusting and this "break" may last until next week!).
We had baked potato as a side last night, and we have learned to not eat the potato skins or the hens will find out and go on strike. They love chopped up potato skins, and this morning I found out Timi the cat likes baked potato also. I'll have to plant more potatoes.
Hope everyone has a good Friday, and remember, tomorrow, the 20th, is the official first day of spring!

Good Saturday morning all, and HAPPY SPRING! :sete_056:
I am so happy that spring is finally here, and the weekend weather forecast looks FABULOUS! I'm hoping to get some cleanup done out in the yard this weekend, and get the rest of my brush pile burned. No signs of the lone neighborhood coyote this morning ... neighbor was worried that maybe there was a mama with new babies somewhere in her yard, but Sargent checked and he says no haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently 2°C and sunny. We had an amazing weekend with temperatures in the +teens and I spent a good deal of time out in the yard.
I finally got to harvest the row of carrots that I didn't get to harvest in the fall due to my Mom getting sick. Most were mushy, but some in the center of the row were still good. I picked those few and washed them up and we ate them last night. SO sweet and delicious! I did a clean up in the veggie garden as well, and found that last falls sowing of spinach plants were still there and growing! I also got a few flower beds raked out, the 2 decks stained, and one set of patio furniture out. I know that winter isn't over for us yet, but it felt good to get some work done outside. It looks like another great day ahead today, but I think today I'll finish our tax return and clean some windows.
Spring is my favorite time of year!
Have a great day all :)

Good Monday, all! I had plans to plant today, but the high winds and rather chilly temperatures drove me back inside. I did get some barn clean-up done and put the first planting of lettuces in the left over space near the broccoli. I'll take note in future--if the cats are in their shelter, it's too chilly to do much in the gardens!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 4°C and sunny.
Another lovely day ahead. Yesterday it was so nice out that I had my tomato seedlings outside for a few hours!
I raked out a few gardens and pruned the dead out of a few shrubs. Then the winds picked up and was blowing leaves back into places I had already raked so had to stop.
Maybe I'll get more done today.
Have a great day all :)

Say Netty, can’t you lie some planks or something heavy on those leaves temporarily as you work? I have to do that with my straw paths or else the material would scatter all over the garden.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 8°C and overcast. It started to rain as I finished my dog walk. We really need some rain as things are very dry.
I'm heading into town a day early to do my errands and shopping this week. That will probably throw my week off by a day now, I am such a creature of habit.
Have a great day all :)

I haven't posted here in a long time but I just had to tell everyone about my wonderful day today. My hubby retired last summer and we have working very hard getting neglected things around the house and gardens caught up and cleaned up. We have been taking time out for ourselves, thats always a good thing. So we decided to go to a exotic animal auction about 6 hours from our house . Reserved a motel, got all our work done so we could leave Wednesday morning to Thursday night..So last week my dear friend posted, on facebook, a picture of her blooming Clivia... It caught my eye because I had that color flower but lost it to a water problem in my greenhouse a few years ago. I I read her post and found it was the very same one that I had sent her many many years ago. i told her i lost all my clivia so she offered to send me one back...i said, "i will be going right by your house next week". She invited me so stop by and sit a spell and she gifted my, my very own clivia plant back to me...i am sure some of you old timers know exactly what clivia plants they were. Many of you recieved some from me. Well dear friend, @carolyn , I had such a very nice day even though it took us 6 hours to get to you. It was wonderful to finally meet you and your hubby. What a refreshing thing to do, and thank you so very much for my clivia plant..

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 8°C and sunny.
I'm heading into an online 'class' this morning for work. Should be interesting!
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday afternoon all! Currently 6°C and raining. It has been raining HARD!
I spent some time in the little garden at the end of my driveway yesterday, and today it is an island! It is completely surrounded by water!
I am thankful for the rain, but Mother Nature didn't need to give us so much all at once!
Today I did my online course and now I'm going to finally tackle our tax returns. It's the perfect day for it!
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday evening all. Currently 16°C and very windy!
I had a very busy day today and my back and feet are killing me!
Stopped at the dollar store on my way home and bought some asiatic lillies for $2.50. I have no idea where I am going to plant them, but I just couldn't resist!
We have snow in the forecast for tomorrow, so that means it will be cleaning day tomorrow. Just in time too, the house is a mess! :snicker:
Have a good evening all :)

Today is coolish and very windy, so I won't be putting any small seeds into the garden. Note to all gardeners--do not plant carrot seed in high wind, you'll have carrots all over the garden! Like Netty, I cleaned house, straightened a few cupboards (where did all that come from?) and prepared a box to give to the local charity/food pantry.
Tomorrow is to be warmer and less breezy, so I may get those carrots planted on the 1st of April. Everything is so late this year!
