Netty, do you have Covid? I sympathize with Carolyn, too.
Today was very relaxing--just doing laundry, doing a bit of cooking, and petting cats. The cats take so much time ;)!
I did thaw some pumpkin puree to make pumpkin bread tomorrow to freeze and give as "treats" for Halloween.
Please keep well and be careful. Y'all are too important to lose!

No MG, thankfully I do not.
Good evening all. Currently 19°C and overcast. Mother Nature is bringing us a heavy rain event overnight and tomorrow. It earned me a day off work tomorrow so I have a pot of tomatoes stewing that I will can up tomorrow. I picked a bunch of stull from the garden and picked a bushel of apples. That should keep me busy tomorrow! Still looking for something to do with all these tomatillos too. Garden is winding down and I'm already planning next years veggie garden.
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 15°C and still raining!
I've got another day off work today due to the rain, and I am fine with that! I have so much to do around the house, and skating is winding up again for the season.
I'm off to the bank this morning and then picking up a few groceries. Hopefully by then the rain will be done!
Have a great day all :)

It's darned chilly (for us) at 59 degrees this morning, so I'm going to play in the kitchen! Pumpkin bread, apple bread, and maybe some molasses cookies. It's never too soon to get started on Halloween baking. Husband is taking the machete to the sunflowers in back of the barn. They are the "wild" variety with stalks like small trees and get 6' high. If allowed to go to seed, next year will be a sunflower forest!
I hope everyone enjoys their day, whatever the temperature.

Good Friday afternoon all. Currently 13°C and overcast. We had a LOT of rain in the past 2 days, and we will get more this weekend. Everything is well watered!
Lots of grass to cut before the next round of rain hits and then off to skating.
Have a great day all :)

It's Saturday so it's herb day here! I cut more basil (note to self--three basil plants is quite enough for two people, twelve are not necessary) and made pesto. Laundry in the machine, pizza for lunch. Can you tell I'm basically taking the day off?
Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently just 8°C and sunny. We had another round of rain in the evening yesterday, so things are good and wet.
I did mange to get some of the grass cut, but I was distracted by the roof going on my greenhouse! Today the door will get hung, and then we will be water tight.
    Next to decide on shelving.
Today, cleaning and laundry, then some meal prep and then hopefully outside.
Have a great day all :)

It is 21C here this morning at 6:20am. I fed the cats and dog and started laundry so DW can sleep in a little. I have no idea what I want to do today. Maybe some leaf pickup will get me started when the sun finally comes up. In the between I am enjoying a coffee with molasses and honey and cream. Always enjoy dessert for breakfast!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 15°C and rainy.
What a busy week!! Full time job, an extra client, 4 days a week at the rink, and my Dad at the retirement home has kept me hopping this week! Sunday is day of rest for me, well at least a rest from travelling. Today I'm spending the day at home, I am not going anywhere and no one can make me!
Catching up on laundry, cleaning, canning and the garden today. So much for a day of rest haha
I get to do it all again next week!
Have a great day all :)

This Sunday is pumpkin roasting day. There are two pie pumpkins, halved and cleaned out of seeds and "stringy stuff" in the oven. I'll turn the pulp into puree later. There is absolutely no pumpkin spice scent anywhere in the kitchen, or whole house!
Netty, I fear you are doing too much. Is there nothing you can postpone, get help with, or just say no to?

Good Tuesday evening all! Currently 17°C and over cast with drizzle. I was able to come straight home today and spend some time in my garden. Harvested the pears, some beans, tomatillos, peppers, tomatoes and pumpkins. This is the first year I've gotten a basket of pears from my trees! Hubby is out working on my window greenhouse, he's putting together some shelves, and I was out there looking for a place to (finally!) plant some perennials that I bought this summer. Am I the only one that buys plants and then realizes that I have no idea where I'm going to put them? Every single fall I look for places to plant perennials that have sat in their pots all summer haha
Have a great evening all :)

I went into town to grocery shop/forage, and had a chat with a friend whose mother had Covid. She is recovering nicely and is at home now. What a relief!
Netty, you are not the only one with plants needing a home. You would not believe the number of plants that have "followed me home" from nurseries!
Pork ribs were on sale, so I got some and now need to cut them into serving sizes and pop them into the freezer. Tomorrow is making chili and slow-cooking (you guessed it!) ribs. I love days in the kitchen!

well, My dear GardenStew friends, its been a long Summer. I lost my dad this Summer and this Monday morning my Mother in Law passed peacefully away at the hospital following a long rather withering away Summer and a bout of covid. my Father in law with dementia also has had a hard Fall. He breezed through the covid but fell and fractured his knee this past week. I had both of them in and out of the hospital since mid September. this past week both of them were in the hospital on the same floor so I was able to visit both of them, everyday. I went from one room to the next spoon feeding and just sitting with them one at a time. I was the only visitor they were allowed to have due to covid rules. so, for the entire time my mother in law was in the hospital she chose to have me as her visitor. not one of her sons... just me. I am so grateful she chose me. I got to see her everyday before she passed.

Carolyn, we are so sorry for your losses. You were the ideal daughter-in-law, and your mother-in-law was blessed with you. I'll amend that--your entire family is blessed with you.
