So sorry for your loss Carolyn. It's never easy, even when they have lived a long life. My thoughts are with you.
Good Sunday morning all. Currently 16°C and rainy. We had some rain overnight as well, and it rained most of yesterday.
This is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. My family will be indulging in a large turkey dinner NEXT weekend and I will be working on the holiday tomorrow.
Today I will be canning some more tomatoes, cleaning house and doing laundry. Hopefully this afternoon the rain will stop and I will get some quality time in my gardens.
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning, all! We have rain--a gentle rain, not our usual downpours!
We went into the nearby city to get our Covid booster shots and do a bit of shopping. I found a real, metal potato masher--for some reason those are scarce to the point of being unattainable.
Tonight is jambalaya for dinner with Cuban bread and a salad. Shopping really tires me out!

Shopping is a pain, I agree, especially in a grocery shop with Zigs - he calls me ''Mum'' and keeps all on about wanting sweeties. I suppose it entertains the cashiers  These days the groceries get delivered.

We haven't yet been offered booster shots for Covid, but have just booked for flu jabs next week.
By the way G'day all :)

Today was my weekly foray into town to grocery shop. Would you believe a small pie pumpkin followed me home? I just couldn't resist--one can never have too much pumpkin puree in the freezer :setc_083:!
It's overcast and threatening rain, so we have one cat on the porch, and the other in the barn. If my husband goes to the workshop and opens the door, the barn cat will be a workshop cat. She loves napping on the moving pads. It's so cute, but he has to de-cat the workshop before shutting it up for the night.

Good Thursday evening all. Currently 21°C and clouding over. It's been a lovely week, much higher than seasonal, and it seems weird. Wearing shorts to work in October seems so weird! Also seems weird to have the leaves falling in such mild weather, and we haven't had our regular October winds yet. I guess I should just enjoy the weather because snow and cold will be here before I know it!
Looking forward to the weekend, just one more day to get through!
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday afternoon all. Currently 17°C and overcast. Weatherman says that we are going to get a lot of rain overnight and into tomorrow. So much that we are under a special weather statement! I guess that's one way to get your housework done haha
Looking forward to my weekend :)

We picked bell peppers again--nine off one plant. I froze some pepper strips for use this winter, and now am thinking on whom I can unload some peppers.
Although we have sunshine, the temperatures are in the 50's, and we are wearing long pants and flannel shirts. Tonight a big towel goes into the cat shelter to add warmth. The hens don't need their heat lamps yet, but they are in place to be used when needed.
Autumn comes suddenly here, and is most welcome!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 11°C, windy and rainy.
Had a fantastic family dinner yesterday, a late thanksgiving gathering, and it was great. Then I got a call from my sister saying Dad wasn't doing well and that we should meet at the home as Dad may be sent to hospital. Went over there and discovered that his blood sugar was low and they seemed to be unable to keep it at a good level. We went over and got him to eat, and then his blood sugar was good. Then the nurse came in and wanted to give him an insulin shot - which the doctor had suspended at night. Thankfully we were there to stop them, but it became very apparent why Dad had been unable to keep his blood sugar up! Very frustrated with everything and I'm headed over there again this morning. These facilities are facing a crisis right now as there is not enough staff to give these people the care they need. Vaccine mandates are causing many people to leave their jobs and this is the result. One has to ask themselves why it is so many health care professionals refuse the jab and would rather lose their jobs. A year ago they were heros and now they are just disposable. Theres my rant for the day. Have a good day all :)

Netty, I sympathize with your frustration. I don't understand medical professionals refusing to be vaccinated. They are not only endangering their patients, but their families and friends.
However, I am glad you got your father's problem straightened out. My dear husband is diabetic, and I make sure he has his pills and an appropriate meal at lunch and dinner. Thank heavens you were able to get your dad to eat!
On a happier note, it is a bit chilly today, but we are coping :like:! I baked more pumpkin/pecan bread to stash in the freezer for Christmas trays, husband cut back some overgrown West Texas Mallow, and cut up some mesquite branches for a friend who grills a lot. He was supervised by two cats. The cats want to make sure we are doing things right!
I hope you all have a good Sunday, and a great week to come.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 17°C and clear. It was a beautiful day today!
On my way home from work I got a call from my sister to say that dad fell down again and this time he was being taken to hospital. So far hes has an EKG, an xray and given blood. Just waiting to hear results. They have been there a long time, the hospital moves at a snails pace.
    Always something.

    Fingers crossed Netty.
Sorry to hear your dad fell. Of course the real question here is why he fell. I hope the best for him and you as well as your sister.

I went into town today to grocery shop and stop at the feed store. I usually do this on Wednesday, but it was very foggy yesterday so I stayed home and did some minor chores (where do all those dirty clothes come from?).
The guys at the feed store were thrilled to get molasses cookies, and the owner is a bell pepper fanatic, so he got a bag of peppers. One of the workers gave me a small jar of pear preserves--he had a bumper crop of pears and his wife likes to make pear preserves. They are beautiful in the jar, and probably even better out of the jar!
This small town living thing may work out . . . .

What a great posting, Jane. I really liked that one. Gosh—pear preserves. My gran made such good pear preserves from her trees.

Yeah, dirty clothes. I told my Bride that someone must be slipping into the hamper room whilst we were away at the lotty. Sadly she recognised the garments.
