Good Monday morning all. Currently 3°C and sunny. What a lovely day!!
Working hard to finish my inside chores so that I can go outside and do something. Yard may still be too wet for much, but I'll try.
Have a great day all :)

The last two days have been busy - Hubby built a light hanger for my daughter's vacant upstairs bedroom - so now all of the Artichokes are together and have a their own big window. They've grown considerably and were getting bossy about hogging the window in my other daughter's vacant room. The kids moved out and plants moved in :)

There were bare spots showing on the driveway, so the snowmobiles went for the final trip to the barn to be prepped for summer storage. The front of the greenhouse was cleaned out last week and the ice finally metled enough that I can open the door. So today I plant spinach. :setf_052: The lows are around -1 so it should grow fine in there.

A neighbour stopped by with some older Gazania seeds and asked me if I could grow one for her window ledge She is very dear to me and can no longer garden. I plant extra in my garden for her every year and she still enjoys coming to pick and harvest. I ask her every spring what she would like in "our garden" this year ( meaning her's and mine). Today was planting some flower seeds and setting up the germination tent for them. I hope they grow - the date on the package was 2018.

Tomorrow is a big trip to the city for appointments, and again on Sunday. Each return trip will be about a 7 hour drive. Nice that they are opening up some scanning equipment on the weekends and evenings. Today is making sure plant babies are watered and fine for a couple days. As well baking buns and bread for sandwiches and picnic breakfast/lunch/dinner tomorrow.

I'm excited to see somewhere with no snow and new calves and geese in the fields.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -7°C and sunny.
I did manage to get outside yesterday, and raked out the one bed behind the deck. It's a little micro climate there and things are already growing a little. Also did some weeding in there, creeping charlie and crab grass, you just can't start too early with those weeds.
Today is a busy day of appointments so not much time to garden.
I was just upstairs checking on the plant rack and more tomatoes have sprouted!
Have a great day all :)

Good morning! It's sunny today with temperatures in the 50's and a healthy wind. It sure is nice to see the sunshine and blue skies after a cloudy, rainy, and windy Monday. We were fortunate and the heavy storms missed us, but I sure feel for the folks that got hit by tornadoes in North Texas.
I made a pot of chicken vegetable soup for a neighbor who gets Meals on Wheels. She said their food is good, but kind of boring. My "kill or cure" chicken soup is far from boring!
Hoping that tomorrow I can put the tomato and pepper starts outside to start hardening off.
May tomorrow meet all your hopes, too!

Hi! Tomorrow is the last of some nice days. Rain, sleet, then snow and a bit of frost forecast for the next week and maybe more. I have almost tied a knot on myself trying to do as much as I can outside, but we're having guests so I need to prepare for them tomorrow, so no gardening then. Cleared up one border yesterday, and almost finished the big one to the north today. I had to clean the car inside due to... ahem... soil and such first. The car needs a check-up and I don't want to send another mechanic home with a severe allergy outbreak. I probably won't be on for a couple of days. Hope you all have fun playing in the dirt.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -1°C and freezing rain. Or shall I call them ice pellets? Either way, its not a nice day today!
I want to sort seeds today, and prepare some for the local seed swap on Saturday.
But first, I need to clean the bathroom!
Have a great day all :)

Good morning. What a difference a day can make - plus 8 and a warm wind overnight and today has snow melting rapidly. After travelling somewhere with no snow yesterday, the melting is a welcome sight. I can see dirt now on the driveway and paths. Angus hates being wet, and despises mud between his toes - so tries to navigate the wet mud by teetering on the sloped edge that is still white. A definite comedy act Today will be a down day after such a long one yesterday. Just dinner, dishes and looking at gardening sites. :flower:

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 3°C and very wet! We had freezing rain yesterday, then heavy rain overnight. The yard is like a giant puddle this morning haha
It's Thursday, so I'm off to do my errands and shopping. I'm really starting to get predictable, aren't I?
Have a great day all :)

Good morning! I have beef bones roasting to make broth later, and am contemplating what to make for dinner. My dear husband has a terrible cold, so I need something non-threatening but tasty to tempt his palate.
We opened another raised bed to prep for planting. It needs to dry out a bit before we can till and add compost. Between sneezes and coughs, husband got the black plastic off the bed (with Buddy's help--he's such a helpful cat!).
Netty, being predictable is a good thing--it means you are organized and know what you are doing and when.
Hoping you are all well, and have a good day.

This week is certainly flying by. Thankfully ( didn't think I'd ever say this) it froze and is -6 this morning. This means that I can drive the truck up the house on the muddy back driveway and unload the new air conditioner. After last summer's "heat dome" of +42 C, we decided to purchase a back up portable air condtioner while we were in the city and they were available.

It could be like the new washiing machine that sat in a box in the TV room for three years until the old one gasped out it's last spin but atleast it will be here.

Then it will be a kitchen day, making cookies for my neighbour, and Gnudi's for dinner.

I'm hoping the road will be good enough to take Angus to the river, see the moving water and listen for Dippers.

    Have a wonderful day. :flower:

Good Thursday evening. It's wet and windy, about 11°C. I managed to clean most of my borders before the rain started, but still have a long one and a couple of small ones left for next time we have nice weather. I've done house work and laundry today. It was sorely needed. I'm totally disenchanted with the world as it is, so I might either watch the entire Star Trek series, with all the new episodes and characters, or I might turn to drink. Hope all have a nice day!

Good Friday morning all. Currently 3°C and overcast with passing showers.
I'm excited today ... I get to go babysit my grandsons while mama and new baby go to their well baby appointment. They are such a joy to spend time with!
My grandsons are already little gardeners and have seedlings growing inside, which they will proudly show me as soon as I get there. I imagine they will probably try to get me outside in the rain to show me their raised beds too haha
At the rink tonight, so it's another busy day!
Have a great day all :)

Friday afternoon already! 6°C, wind and rain. I've managed to procrastinate the day away. Spent too much time at the stables because the cats wanted petting, then too long at the graveyard afterwards. My mother should be 80 today so I wanted to plant some spring blooms on the grave. Heathers and some narcissi. It looked nice when I left. She loved tulips, but the small deer eat them, and roses, so narcissi it is. I don't think I'll get much done today. The weather and the world in general put me in a bad mood. Hope everyone else is having a good Friday.

Droopy, sorry the weather and the world is affecting your mood. You have cats to pet, flowers for your mother's grave, and lots of friends here on the Stew. Yes, I am a Pollyanna!
Did a bit of cleaning, skimmed the fat off the beef broth and froze three containers for later use, and of course, petted cats!
The Formula One practice sessions started today, so we are watching those. I'm rooting for Ferrari and Max Verstappen in a McClaren. My husband can't believe a woman who asks "where are the Astros from?" knows the names and teams of Formula One drivers. I am a woman of mystery . . . .
