Good Friday morning all. Currently -1°C with light snow falling. What a change from yesterdays 18°C!
After I got home with my groceries yesterday, I was able to get one hosta bed raked out, as well as a small garden beside the house, and I raised the 12 stepping stones on the walkway beside the house. They are in a muddy area and were sinking and out of sight, making walking on them very difficult. I dug them all out and raised them a little and now it looks like a path again! Today I need to re-arrange my plant rack and maybe up-pot a few things. Tonight is ice show dress rehearsal at the rink.
Have a great day all :)

@Netty - you are a very busy lady. :) I hope the rehearsal is fun.

Things have changed very quickly here, and like many others the weather can't seem to make up its mind. The bon fire pit was mostly full of bits and bark from splitting firewood last year. We had cleaned the snow out around it last week with the tractor, and it had melted away enough to have a burning day. It's important that we do it while there is still snow on the ground. It was a long but fun day, and of course included hot dogs.:setc_029: Angus had to have his hot dog too of course.

Today is mostly a home care day, and a deep Angus hair removal on the house. My fur boy molts three times a year and he just finished one....so out comes the carpet cleaner and shop vac.

Saturday. 2°C and snow/hail/sleet with a rain-and-thunderstorm warning. I don't think it's gonna be that bad. They're just hedging their bets. Can't do anything outside so I'm going to sort old family photos my mother and grandmother had hanging on their walls. They're coming out of their frames, I'll write who the people are on the back if I know, and I'll put them in albums. Who knows, somebody might appreciate them some day.

@Melody Mc., handsome boys can't wear the same coat all year you know! It's the same with pretty ladies. Our mare shed her coat several times per year.

Enjoy the Saturday whatever you're up to.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -1°C and sunny.
Sowed my zinnia seeds this morning. The rest of the day is dedicated to skating. Daughter skates at 9am, coaches at 10 am, and then performs in 2 ice shows this afternoon. That doesn't leave time for much else! Tomorrow is my day lol
Have a great day all :)

Breathes there a woman so happy as she who has dirt under her fingernails? I planted cucumbers today, and weeded the peas, onions, and garlic. Green beans are up and everything got a good watering. The lettuce and spinach is ready to be thinned, so tomorrow's lunch will be accompanied by a "baby greens" salad.
This has been a great Saturday so far, and I sincerely hope your day is, too.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast.
I've already had a lovely walk with the dog, and picked up a bag of garbage out of the ditches.
The ice shows were great yesterday, but 2 shows plus a regular session made for a very long day. Today, the day is mine and I'm not leaving this property!
Weatherman says theres a chance of rain this afternoon, but I'm hoping to get some work done outside. SO much to do now that the snow has all melted!
Have a great day all :)

We planted tomatoes today--one cherry tomato and 10 Romas. We'll finish planting the tomatoes tomorrow, as well as the bell peppers. Cloudless blue sky, gentle breeze, and temperature in the mid-60's. Didn't even need a light jacket! Other than making a pasta salad for dinner tonight, I don't plan on doing much of anything for the rest of the day.
I hope your day is as pleasant, and that you get enough done to feel virtuous, but not so much that you get tired out.

I woke to a + 3 rather than a negative today - a lovely sign of spring. The chives are up in the herb bed beside the back porch which is my cue to gently start hardenig off my parsley. I can clean the mulch off of a little bed beside the greenhouse now and hope to get that done and plant some spinach. The spinach is up in the greenhouse which is exctiting.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -1°C and foggy.
Yesterday was productive - I got all the laundry done, house cleaned, plants and seedlings watered, 2 new raised beds assembled and put in place, and the asparagus patch cleaned up. Found some snow drops in bloom and there are lots of plants starting to show signs of life. I love spring!
Today won't be as exciting as there are many things that need done indoors.
Have a great day all :)

Overcast with temperature in the mid-60's and a light breeze, so I took advantage of the weather and planted the last of the tomatoes. Looks like tomorrow we'll have our first lettuce salad from the garden.
The rest of the day is like Netty's, doing indoor things like dusting, laundry, and getting into neglected corners and shoveling out!

Whoop! Minusdegrees at night, plusdegrees in the morning, the white stuff keeps falling, and I've given up on spring for the time being. Got years of Christmas cards and ThankYou cards backlog sorted. All with photos are glued in albums, preferably sorted by year. I like to leaf through now and then to see how the children in there have grown. I need to go out and cut down a couple of bushes today. Tree man is coming tomorrow to take down three Sitkas we need to sort before they grow so big they threaten the neighbour's new therapy tub area. We have to either do it right now or wait until autumn when the birds are done hatching. The magpies live in another tree, but even they have stopped building during this cold spell we've got. Have a nice Tuesday.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast. Rain is in the forecast.
Lots of things to do for the skating club today. I have some bookwork to do and awards to order for our banquet.
    Never a dull moment.
Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 3°C and sunny.
I did manage to get most of my bookwork done yesterday, but the sun came out and the garden called! There was a composter in front of the greenhouse that needed moving so I sifted and moved all the compost to one of the raised beds and dug up a blackberry bush. I moved some rocks and worked on one of the 'in ground' strips. Looks good, now I need to move a Sedum that I planted last fall in a hurry, so that I can put out my rain barrel. I hope to get the back gardens raked out today. A little bird told me I would be going back to work next week, so now I'm in a hurry to get my own gardens in shape! We are also at the rink tonight.
Have a great day all :)
