    Love the sign Melody!
Good Wednesday afternoon all. Currently 28°C and sunny. Its hot, but theres a breeze so its managable.
While I was at work today, my incredible son in law came over to my house and shot some video/photos of my gardens with his drone! I'll post some on the weekend when I have time.
We are on our way out - to the arena of course!
Have a great evening all :)

Happy Friday to you all! I like Fridays--most of the household chores are done, we have a simple dinner in front of the TV while watching the PBS Newshour and then Penn & Teller's magic show. This morning we'll watch the Formula One practice in Belgium (well, I'll watch some of it).
I have apples in the kitchen that need to be used, so I'm baking apple pecan bread in small loaves. It's a sweet bread that tastes really good. Baking, favorite TV shows, and a simple dinner--does it get better than this?

What a great posting, Mel. I had missed this somehow.
It is a funny sign and a lovely remembrance. I liked that anecdote.
You come up with some good stuff, don’t you.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 15°C and sunny. It was a cool night, I slept amazing with the cool breeze blowing on me.
It sure is starting to feel like fall in the mornings!
Lots to do today - I have to use up a couple of cans of tomatoes that didn't seal this week. I also have a bushel or more of tomatoes to process, as well as a load of other stuff to harvest. Also grass to cut, laundry to wash, and all kinds of other odds and ends. Hopefully there is a bit of time to work in the back flower beds as well!
Have a great day all :)

Good Monday to you all! It is warm but with a bit of breeze. Rain is predicted for tomorrow and we are hoping the predictors get it right for once!
Did some housecleaning while husband went into town to get a fitting for his air compressor. I stay away from the mechanical stuff--a ballpoint pen mystifies me.
No gardening since nothing needed watering and we are down to the bare bones in the vegetable garden. The hens gave us a couple of eggs--does that count? We get oyster crackers for treats for the hens. We are trying to teach them eggs=treats. Have you ever tried to teach a hen anything? All they learned was wanting treats, no matter what!

Happy Wednesday, or as those of you who work for a salary call it, Hump Day. The prognosticators "progged" right and we received 1 1/4" of rain yesterday. The rain was most welcome, and the pastures around here are beginning to green up.
Since outside is pretty soggy still, I'll do some laundry and make chicken vegetable soup to freeze for this winter. I'm always sure to tell the hens when I make chicken soup. If the oyster cracker treats don't work, perhaps sheer fear will!:setc_007:

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 18°C and breezy with sunshine.
What a busy week! SO busy at work plus 2 family birthdays, a skating day, a client day, dog to the vet and more! Oh and the dog also got sprayed by a skunk one of those days!
The only thing saving my sanity was the fact that we had rain, and that saved having to water gardens. I'm sure there are veggies to harvest, weeds to pull, and dead heads to trim off ... thankfully its a long weeked!
Have a great day all :)

Little late posting today because we were watching the Dutch Grand Prix. Verstappen won and I was rooting for him (hear that, Sjoerd) even though Ferrari was in contention. I especially enjoyed the long shots of the countryside--windmills, a lovely lake, and green, green, green all over.
For those of you have the holiday, happy and relaxing Labor Day tomorrow!

Good Monday morning all. Currently just 14°C and overcast. It was cool and overcast all day yesterday, but no rain. And it looks like no rain today or in the next few days.
I did a canner load of tomato sauce yesterday and have another load ready to go. That should be most of the tomatoes from the garden turned to sauce. There may be one more load next weekend. I dug out a few potatoes yesterday, and might make a potato salad today. I have grass to cut today, and laundry to fold and put away. So much for a relaxing Labor Day!
Have a great day all :)

Aww Jane, that is so sweet. Three cheers for Verstappen.
That whole thing had been arranged so that people did not have to drive their own auto’s. They came with trains, busses and bicycles. It was amazing.
It is interesting that you got to see some of the countryside as well.

First big frost last night. It had that feel even though it wasn't supposed to be for a couple of days. Fall is definitely here now. The leaves are yellowing and beginning to fall. I'm hoping the last toms will ripen on the vine but not so sure. Today is grilling zucchini for the freezer, making chips and zucchini carrot latkes for the freezer. The house was 10 c this AM so we used the furnace for a few minutes to make it more comfortable. I'll cook inside to help the heat.

Some first fall frosty photos. :)

This is the lower garden looking at the creek. The frost travels through this low area.

This is looking up at the house with the mountain right behind it. It is a little higher, and can be frost free a bit longer.

Always sad when the first frost hits. We should have another month or so here. Sometimes it doesn't happen until mid November but then occasionally we get that early October frost. I have a feeling that is what will happen this year. It was only 10°C here this morning. Brrr!
It was an all day watering day at work today. There is no rain in the future forecast for the next 2 weeks at least, so I'd better get used to it again.
Im off to walk the dog, have a great afternoon all :)

I can see why you as such haste. I did not realise just how soon the frost was coming.
