Good Sunday morning all. Currently -2°C and overcast. Sargent and I have had our morning walk, and now its coffee time!
Yesterday was a busy day, and so today is the day for housework and laundry. HOpefully the sun comes out this afternoon and I'll spend some time outdoors.
Have a great day all :)

It's Sunday, and the day of the Daytona 500--otherwise known as the "floor it and turn left" race. Since husband will be watching that, as well as some golf tournament, I'll take my usual refuge in the kitchen. It's too chilly to play outside. I'm not nearly as hardy as Netty!

It is a balmy 0 right now and my goodness is it snowing. Snowmagedon. This will be our third day in a row of ploughing. We will be going out again after lunch. And then will have plough again tomorrow before travelling to the city on Tuesday. I spread my ash on the upper garden four days ago to help the sun melt it sooner....what a jynx hahahahaha

A sneaky neighbour came by with their big tractor and secretly cleaned from the road to the gate on our 1 km driveway. I found it this morning. Cookies are in the oven for him to be dropped off after we plough again. Even though there is only a handful of us, and we are spread out, everyone looks out for everyone. Makes me turn to mush inside sometimes.

Every Sunday we listen to the local radio station, with a Classic Country show. All of the old timers - Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn etc. It's our coffee and kitchen date. ( Hubby drinks coffee and samples what comes out of the kitchen :D) Today I'm baking for the neighbour, but also making some cookies, buns and treats for my Son for when I see him briefly in the city Tuesday.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone. It's a beautiful day.

Hiya Mel, sorry to hear about the snowmagedon. I like how your community organises to help each other out. That is well cool.
Your country evening sounds like fun. There are so many old songs one can sing along with.
Will you show some pics of your baking?

Good Monday morning! 5°C, rain, and wind with gale force gusts. Today is going to give us a lot of weather. Wish I could export all the rain we'll get before this day is over. At least it's not -2°C and snowing like yesterday so no snowmageddon for us. A lot of the high mountain roads all over the south part are closed due to snow, winds, and avalanche danger. We're not going anywhere near a mountain pass, but people we know are, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them.

I need to walk Skuld. We've both got good rain gear so we'll be fine.

Wishing you all a nice day.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 1°C and sunny. Its going to be a beautiful day!
Its Family Day here in Canada, and so we are going to head out and spend some time with the grandkids! We'll probably go for a little hike in their "woodsy woods" and have a fire to roast some marshmallows IF their mom lets them. They've been on sugar overload since their birthdays last week and mom might not appreciate marshmallows haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -4°C and overcast. Sounds like we'll be getting some snow this week beginning tomorrow.
We had a lovely visit with the grandkids yesterday, and saw their house that is under construction. Another month or two and they should be able to move in!
Today is just going to be a day of domestic chores, how boring.
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -8°C and overcast. We had a bit of a snowstorm overnight. It wasn't as much as the snow as the blowing and there are large drifts surrounded by bare spots all over and the roads haven't been plowed yet. I'm kinda wondering if I can get through the drifts in the driveway, but I'm just gonna hop in my trusty AWD and give 'er! I need to get my errands and shopping done before the predicted freezing rain starts. Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning. It's beautiful sunny morning. The clearing skies brought us some Arctic air so a balmy -29 this morning. That could be a record breaker for this time of year. Tonight is scheduled to be a little colder.

We finished cleaning up the ploughing from a three day snow event. Our main road is still not plowed as they are focussing on the communities and school bus routes. There were no school busses running Tuesday. Yesterday all but three bus routes were cleared, so eventually they will make it out this way. With over two feet of snow on the road, it will be a grader affair, not a plough truck. There is only so many graders and operators. Cookies are on the baking schedule for when we hear the grader is coming. I'll take them to a neighbour that lives on the road. She provides the coffee and cake. We are always so grateful to see them that we make sure he has some appreciation on a long day.

Today will be staying warm and keeping the fires going. Today is also self declared National Spoil Hubby day. It will be watching a movie of his choice and playing a board game ( not so spoiled that I will let him win though. :p). A nice dinner, some smooth jazz in the background, and some wine in his cup is on the agenda for this evening.

Melody, you are a kind and generous soul! I'm sure the grader driver looks forward to doing your road, and your husband looks forward to Spoil Hubby Day. Just one day? I doubt that.
It's in the 60's today, so we got a bit of perennial trimming done until the wind came up. Trying to catch a moving bush ain't easy! I have done laundry and prepped for dinner. We are trying a new cauliflower salad with bell pepper slices, red onions, and a marinade. Since the salad need to marinate for a few hours, it is in the refrigerator doing its thing.
Hope all in the upper midwest are okay, and that Netty made her foray into town safely.

Good Friday morning all. Currently sunny and -17°C with a windchill of -27°C. Brrrr! I was not expecting that this morning! It was a short dog walk!
Thanks everyone for worrying about me in my trip to town yesterday! I made it just fine thanks to my good old Dodge Journey and its AWD. That car is like a tank and can get through anything winter can dish out! Today will be an inside day, until this evening when we head to the rink.
Have a great day all :)

Happy Friday. :) @Netty - that is so cold. Wind chills are the worst I think. The risk of frost bite increases so much. Be safe.

We are slowly warming and at -20 this morning. The sun is trying to burn through some cloud which would be lovely. After today were expecting more snow for a few days. It's a low key day, with some kitchen time and home care. Angus tested the air this morning, came in and layed on his back, sticking his feet in the air. Booty day for the big guy. :chuckle: Then he prances like a show horse with his boots on ( which look hilarious as they are remodelled garden gloves), runs down, does his business, comes in and sits by the cookie bin - lifting his paw to get his boots off. What a funny schmuck. He brings me a lot of joy.

Have a safe and warm day everyone.

-27 C is cold . Hope you were all bundled up in layers. 19* F with wind chill temps out yesterday with several layers of clothing , hats gloves, hand warmers, to add feed to the bird feeders. In a short time I nearly froze, really cold when wind starts to blow. It did’t seem to stop the birds . Even the hummers were out. ‘sun out today landscape covered in snow , blue skies just beautiful.
Received 6” of snow from this last arctic blast. Very Unusual . Icy out .
I’m snowed in but have power, food and water. Had to dig out a trail and put down cat sand to get to the barn to feed the horses. Not fun . But …. on the bright side hoping the cold freeze has frozen yellow jacket nests , gophers and moles, voles… one can always hope!
