Happy Tuesday, all! Today is a bits and pieces day when we do all the little tasks we've put off. I'm making jerk chicken (Caribbean dish) for dinner, so I can hide in the kitchen making the marinade while husband does some of the less glamorous tasks.
Netty, when the silk appears on your corn, put a drop or two of vegetable oil on the silk. I don't know why, but that prevents corn worm. I can't recommend that for those of you with an acre or more of corn!

    Good morning everyone.
Hope you're all feeling well at this busy time of year out in the garden.
We're having a hot spell of weather...for us that is.:)...29c yesterday but down to 28c today. Back tomorrow to a lovely 23c...can't wait.

Had the injection into my hip yesterday...so waiting for the effects to kick in...something else that I can't wait for :chuckle:. Today having to go in for an x-ray on my troublesome knee....ready for my Consultant to look at in 2 weeks time.:fingerscrossed:

Keep safe in the fire zones and in the heat and enjoy your day.

    Thank you @Pacnorwest .
Fingers crossed the injection does the trick, has done on other joints in the past but it's early days. I have been warned that it may need 2 injections ... I hope not.
I have an easy day planned for tomorrow as we called into the care home on the way back from having the x-ray to see my brother so saving us from popping by tomorrow.
Thankfully our temps should return to near normal too, so making it a much more bearable day to sit and relax outside.:):like:

Today was quite a relaxing and self care day. Yesterday was a town day, which is always long. Thankfully the grader came the day before so the road was in better shape and the drive to town was only an hour and a half. We picked up the neighbour's son and took him to school which used to be our daily treat when we were working. Now he is one year from Graduation and such an fantastic young man. I really enjoyed visiting with him.

We had the town truck serviced and went to lunch with a gift card from our oldest while that was being done. Eating out only happens a couple times a year so it was a real treat. We ended the trip with our COVID boosters which always take a couple days of rest after. Rest that I needed so all in all it was a good day. :) Our daughter bought us the complete Grey's Anatomy Box set so we relaxed with Angus and watched until our eye balls hurt hahaha. A huge change from a normal day here - almost a holiday. :)

@Melody Mc. It sounds like you enjoyed a well deserved day off, glad you had such wonderful day. We tend to have Fridays as a weekly day off from gardening and house chores and usually enjoy a lunch out somewhere. It's so important to stop and have a break, there's nothing so very important that can't wait a bit longer to get seen to.:):like:

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 18°C and raining. We managed to get our walk done before the rain started. Now the task of keeping a bored puppy amused, while trying to get some housework done. Little bugger gets into EVERYTHING! He sure keeps us on our toes!
Hoping to get out into the garden if the rain stops.
Have a great day all :)

I feel for ya on all the puppy escapades. It took 6 months to undo the bad manners and teach Roxy pup at 6 months good manners. She was a rescue border collie.
The first thing she did when we brought her home was run throughout the house like it was on fire grab all the plants off the shelves and dumped them on the floor and went stinky potty on my fav throw rug , and chewed everything in sight. I knew then and there she was gonna be a hand full.
I thought this girl was determined to be destructive in every way. But then all of a sudden with lots luv and toys, with positive reinforcement and treats she is now the best and smartest little girl and so happy. No more time outs .The joy they bring is beyond…Keep the faith. It will get better.

Little Rufus was a wild little Tasmanian Devil. Only once did I ever get upset, and all I did was vent a few cuss words in no particular direction, after he counter - surfed yet another pair of glasses. Strangely, he stopped doing that. Maybe it's because of the orange oil and hot pepper oil - treated washcloths I started leaving on the counter? Other than that, never a cross word and I always give him praise and positive encouragement. He's a love bear now.

Today was the town old-paint-and-household-chemical event at the high school. I have wondered for years what to do with all those shelves of paint, most from previous owners of my house. I think some were thirty years old or more. We loaded up the truck and there they went. Must have been thirty or more cans. They took them all! Whew! What a relief! I kept just a few for projects, mostly small. Plus two cans to re-stain the raised bed sides.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 15°C and overcast with a strong steady NW wind. Weatherman told me today was going to be a nice day, so I'm hoping it clears soon so I can cut the grass. There is so much to cut and trim, should keep me busy for a while. The rain cleared yesterday, and I was able to get out to the veggie garden and do some weeding. I took Thunder out with me, my little garden dog in training. He was a good boy, only stealing my trowel twice and barking at my rake and orange bucket. For some reason, he does not like my orange home depot bucket, but has no issues with my other buckets. Weird. This morning he was full of the devil so I took him for a longer walk ... he made it all the way to the neighbors mailbox and back, around the yard and then came in and had breakfast. Now he is napping.
I'll start my food prep while he is sleeping, and try to get the laundry folded.
Have a great day all :)

@Daniel W When they are puppies always in motion but once they get the household rules they are little angles.

    @Netty
After an exhausting few weeks of puppy shenanigans I purchases interactive toys.
Learning toys for dogs that seems to hold the pups attention , puzzles etc. Lots of chew toys that are indestructible also hold her attention.

Now Roxy 6 months later has her own toy box full of toys she goes to every day to pull out and sometimes she begs for someone to throw a ball or play with pull toys.

Sooo … I just purchased an automatic ball throw toy. She’s learning to catch the ball from the machine for dogs , then place the ball in the opening of the toy that throws the ball out and she can play all she wants until she tires herself out. Under supervision of course.
Supper entertaining to watch her carry on…

Good Monday morning all, and Happy Canada Day to all the Canadians out there!
Home today due to the holiday, but I know I'll have to work twice as hard tomorrow to catch up on the work! Totally worth it haha
Thunder started barking at about 11:30 last night so I took him outside. It was fireworks going off, and he was not afraid. I let him listen, then he had a pee and we went back to bed.
Today, we clean and weed some gardens. And maybe finally trim the Lilac outside the kitchen window.
Have a great day all :)
@Pacnorwest Thunder inherited a large basket of toys from Sargent. He used to get the 'Barkbox' subscription and there are lots! He does seem to love balls, and almost always has one in his mouth. I was thinking about getting him one of those ball throwing toys when he gets older, but I don't want him to get obsessed like my friends dog is lol

Happy Monday to you all! I'm stripping dried lemon thyme to put in a small bottle, making Italian sausage sandwiches for lunch, clearing out some drawers to put in the food pantry/thrift store donation box, and watching the cat sleep. I read that lions sleep 29 hours a day. Those lions don't have a patch on our Timi!
Happy Canada Day to you, Netty, and all Canadians. On this date in 1867 it became officially the Dominion of Canada, a self-governing dominion of Britain. And may I say Canadians have done a fine job of governing:smt109.
