Netty—What a good turkey deal. Gosh, that smell must be wonderful.
    Lil gardeners’ hugs today.
BTW— I’ll bet that food will be smashing. Will there also be stuffing with those turkeys??

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -3°C and snowing.
I slept in a little this morning, which was nice. The last 2 weeks have been absolutely exhausting, and the visitation last night was very busy and emotional. But I feel like we are over the hump, so to speak, and now we can try to heal and get on with our lives hard as it may be. Life has to go on.
Today we will be doing some clean up, and maybe putting up our Christmas tree. Later we are going to take Thunder for a walk in the park.
Have a great day all :)

    Burrrrrr, -3°C. Burrrrrrr again.

Say Netty, is there any skating going on over there with your kids?

It sounds like the visitation went well. Yeah, I can imagine that it was busy, busy, busy. I know exactly what you mean by things being over the hump. Closure and again picking up one’s life is indeed a hump to get over, but after that the healing begins and the new “normal” can develop itself.

Well meid, get that tree up! Trimming the tree is lots of fun (perhaps with memories)…but it will be vrolijk (cheerful) to see every day and night.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 2°C and overcast. The snow we had is now very wet and melting, which is a good thing. We've been for our walk and brought in firewood, and now its time to sit and enjoy a coffee. Weatherman says we will be getting rain today.
After our trip to the park yesterday, I started operation kitchen deep clean. I'm going through every cupboard, cleaning it out, scrubbing and putting on new shelf liner. Also finally getting rid of all the things I no longer use ... teflon pans, plastic containers (WHY do I have so MANY?!), old countertop appliances etc. I don't need so much STUFF! I hope to eventually do this to every room in the house. I can't stand the clutter anymore.
Have a great day all :)

I had to chuckle when I read your semi-tirade about clutter. Haha. My Bride can’t stand it eather. We are slowly jettsoning stuff to the good will. Pans and clothing — those are the things that are disturbing at the minute.
Today we got rid of six pillows. That was the alf of what we had……WHY-yuh?!? You only use one per person. Good heavens, why do we do it. Rhetorical.

Netty I swear those plastic containers breed in the cubbords.

Been slowly clearing out stuff little by little working my way from room to room all summer. Sometimes cleaning out stuff I think to myself that the minute it’s discarded it might be something I could repurpose in the future. I have to wear my earphones and play music as a distraction so I can’t talk myself out of keeping stuff. Cause ya know you’ll need it someday.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -4°C and windy. We are under a special weather alert for freezing rain this morning. Hoping when the rain gets here that we have reached our high of 5°C and it wont freeze. I have an appointment with the bank today that I cant miss.
We finally got our tree up and decorated yesterday. It took us a while to get all the lights working, but my son finally discovered a broken wire and once that was fixed it was quick to decorate. Thunder has been good so far, but its only a matter of time before he wants one of those 'balls' I'm sure.
Kitchen cleanout will continue this afternoon.
Have a great day all :)

On the kitchen clutter, We've gone through a lot of cleaning that up over the past nine months.

Some of it collected because I'm very frugal and married into a very frugal family. My parents grew up in poverty, during the depression. My in-laws survived the cultural revolution in China, which was even worse. Part is I can always find a use for something. Part is I try to re-use things as much as possible.

But. When it gets to the point of making it hard to find things, it needs to go. I don't like when things are hidden behind other things.

I tried to set a rule, if it hasn't been used in two years, I think seriously about getting rid of it. Also, even if it has a use, if there are several other things that could be used for the same purpose, ditto.

Still, some things do have uses. For example, when I started making dog food, I portioned it into ziplock bags. Then I started saving "plant butter" (margarine) containers, the perfect size. I haven't used the bags in five years, just the plastic containers. They have been used dozens and dozens of times now.

We still have plenty, but it's much nicer when there isn't too much.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 3°C and overcast. Yesterdays freezing rain is slowly melting, leaving a layer of water on top of the ice. This made for a very slow, and dangerous dog walk this morning! I fell once, right off the steps, but I'm ok. My plans of doing some errands today may have to be postponed.
Lots to do around the house, so I'm ok with that.
Have a great day all :)

You’d better be careful, Netty— or you could wind up on funniest home videos.
We have a weekly show over here that is a compilation of “funny” accidents and so forth. Thing is, I can’t really laugh at many of the accidents. Slipping on the front steps is a common subject. When I see them I really cannot laugh. Folks can really be hurt.

Well miss, I hope that the worst you will have is a bruise.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 2°C and foggy. Its still very dark so we are holding off on our dog walk this morning. Dark and foggy walks down a country road seem rather dangerous to me.
No bruises from my fall yesterday, I must have fallen gracefully (HA!)
Today I have my computer guy coming over to have a look at my laptop that crashed the other night. I'm hoping its a cheap fix. He built my desktop PC a few years back, and I'm also going to ask about an upgrade. It all depends on the cost now that I'm a one income family.
I'd like to clean out my car today, and maybe clean out hubbys truck. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it as I don't drive a stick. I've got lots of hard decisions to make in regards to his things. I'm just taking it one day at a time.

Good idea to hold off onthat walk.
Fingers crossed for your laptop. That did not come at a convienient time, did it. You are right to keep an eye on the cents though. In the computer world there are always choices and options. In these situations I always approach the things that ultimately need to be done with a combination of my computer guy’s advice and my own info investigation. Good luck on that…like I said there are always choices.
You are so level-headed to just take things a day at the time. There is no rush.
You know Netty— I have so much respect for you and the way you are going about dealing with these challenges that face you. Respect.

Thanks MG and Sjoerd, that is very kind to say. Hardest days of my life, I'm trying to be strong for my kids, and help us all move on with our lives, but I'm completely a mess inside. Hubby has been at my side since I was only 18 years old and this is a huge adjustment.
Today is Thursday, so that means its errand and shopping day. Weather is kind of nasty so it will have to be a quick trip. Hopefully I can get some Christmas shopping done today too.
Have a great day all :)
