Today I made a ten day supply of dog food. That takes up most of the morning.

I won't be staying up late for new years. Here's my "card" to wish everyone a gardeners' Happy New Year.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast. Its still very dark out, and now that the snow is gone it is darker than it has been. Made sure to take the flashlight when I took Thunder out this morning. We haven't been for our walk yet, but will have to go out soon because today is garbage day and they come early.
Heading out on the town this morning. We will be stopping to see the grandkids while we are out. My youngest grandchild is so excited because she is learning to skate from her Aunt this week. She has even been taking her new Minnie Mouse mittens and pink helmet to bed at night haha She's precious.
New Years Eve is just another night to me, but I will be glad to see 2024 leave.
Heres wishing everyone a Happy New Year! Bring on 2025 :sete_003:

A belated happy holidays to everyone, and a huge wish for health, happiness and a freshly turned page in this chapter of the book of life. Especially gentle and healing wishes for you Netty.

I have a good feeling about 2025, and I send and share all of those good feelings to the most loveliest of people that are here on Garden Stew.

Love the picture Daniel. We are off early as well to watch the World Junior Hockey and laze about.

Happy New Year all! Currently -1°C and snowing. Weatherman says it will snow off and on for a few days.
I had a surprise visit from my grandkids yesterday, which was great! They stayed all afternoon and headed home just before dinner time. We had a quiet night, and I slept through midnight as usual. But I was up bright and early, have already walked the dog, cleaned up the kitchen, hung the new calendar and now its coffee time! Have a great day all :)

    Thanks so much, Mel.

Netty— that surprise visit from your grandkids was really nice. Pardon me, but I just still cannot get my head around the fact that you have grandkids. Haha, you just don’t seem old enough to have them. Oh well, have a good day.

Thank you @Sjoerd , I certainly plan on staying!!!!

Just won't have much to share for a while....this time next week my surgery will be done with :smt041 , but I will be looking in to keep up on everyone's news:like:

If anyone who has had the procedure ( tkr) has any advice/ tips ( or definate don'ts !!!!) on the best way to ensure gaining as much movement and flexibility back I will be most grateful and eager to hear from you. Much prefer to learn from 'real life' experiences. :)

I'm hoping to manage the uneven large shingled ground of my greenhouse and potting area in time to sow some seeds but realise this should be tackled cautiously. From past surgeries I have learnt that attempting this can have detrimental effects. So I must remain patient......which will be extremely hard for me ...... and I fear those nearby too!!! :D:chuckle: :whistling:

@Oreti best wishes for an uneventful and successful knee surgery. And recovery. Please be careful afterwards, every surgery has a recovery period.

@Oreti First of all I think you are so brave to go in for tkr surgery. :setc_088:
    * The most important advice , please take pain meds on schedule to stay ahead of the pain curve following surgery and during PT.
    * Take stool softener on schedule every day by pill or add to morning juice.
    * Good quality sleep and rest is essential for healing.
    * Eat a well balanced diet. My surgeon said it takes extra calories for healing and recovery.
    * Don’t compare your healing journey to anyone else’s.
    * Water therapy is great …just walking in a warm pool of water once the incision has healed is the best therapy to strengthen the joint muscles. Relax whole body and easy on knee recovery to build confidence and strength. Take it SLOWLY.
    * Never ever let PT push you . **Stop when PT exercise hurts *** Keep your knee up on a pillow.
    * Stay with the medication schedule at all times.
    * Remember your brain is also retraining memory to the new knee components . It takes time as well as the whole body adjusting .
    * Accept your limitations thru the healing process. SLOW everything is better. Remember your new shinny parts will give you better movement more mobility and a better quality of life.
    * Patience is a virtue * Very important thru the healing process. Everyone’s journey is different.
    * Keep us posted .
We are all here for you and send you the best recovery thru this process. Sending positive energy your way.

Thankyou @Daniel and @Sjoerd ....just wish I was better at not doing much, hate the thought of not getting out of the house every day.......I most definitely suffer badly with cabin fever but on the + side I should be good to go by the time the weather improves.

Wow @Pacnorwest thanks for all the good advice....one I hadn't heard or thought about at all!!.

Sleep is worrying me too as I don't sleep well now let alone when my leg will be hurting.
Laying on my back hurts after 10mins (Osteoporosis ) ,laying on my left side is my preferred way but that too gets painful (osteoarthritis & osteoporosis) and for obvious reasons my right side will be out of use.

Hubs might have to end up sleeping elsewhere for a while......but I really hope not.:(

The butterflies have really kicked in now.

You guys are the best....thanks. :heart:x

Some tkr patience’s swear by sitting and sleeping in an automatic recliner . Can adjust the position to take the pressure off areas needed.
