Happy Monday morning. A nice morning here with temps in the lower 70s and highs expected to reach 80. Lots of rain is supposed to arrive this evening and through tomorrow. I hope so, because I put off watering the fruit trees.
I was lazy yesterday and didn't get very much done. Just repotted a few things and pulled a few weeds. And now it's back to work!

Good morning all. I dug up good sized patches of Lamb's Ear and Chrysanthemums this weekend to make room for the Julia Child rose and the Mirandy rose my sweetie gave me for Valentines. I have been sticking the bits in various places, mainly lining the new path I am making out front, the rest will fill in a spot north of the driveway that has long been neglected and looking pretty terrible.

Looking at the radar the storms to be heading more north-east than east and the only part heading towards us in any way is still about 2 hours west. The heat cap is weakening but not enough yet for the storms to be able to come this far east. Until it does, it will be very windy and dry.

Good morning! It's very windy here but the sun is still shining. We stocked up on library books because the rain is coming after 5 pm it said on weather.com. We prepared for heavy rain but the wind is the most worrisome.

Good day everyone, a few hundred thousand Oak leaves have been relocated to the 20x30 compost pile where they will reside for a few years as they turn into dirt. The flowerbeds are clear for this year. My wife wants to help with clearing the old dead plants, every once and awhile I hear an 'oops' followed by 'I don't think I was suppose to pull this'. Aaaah yes, good root structure, why don't we replant it before it screams. :) Spring is a fun time of the year. Most plants survive the cleanup and live to enjoy the summer sun. It was a good working day with temps in the mid 60's. Tomorrow we get to scare the frogs and newts as we clean the pond areas.

Good morning everyone, spring happened overnight. :) Some plants are a little slow to get their engines started but temperatures in the 80's should help. Each year a robin makes a best in a Japanese holly bush. Each year a neighbors cat visits in the dead of night. Each year the same result. :-( Last year I tried chicken wire. Maybe this year I will try an alarm. :setf_052:

P.S. Then again , do I need a 3 AM wake up call?

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 12°C and sunny. The beautiful, record breaking weather continues today. As expected, this lovely weather has pushed ahead my date to return to work. I will be back to work full time on Monday. Today, I hope to finish cleaning the windows, and to mop the kitchen floor and bake some muffins before I will allow myself to play outside. Two more gardens to clean up and my yard work is done :)
Have a great first day of spring all!

Good morning all!!!!! Raining here finally. It started roughly 12 hours ago with heavy rain then has eased up a little but still medium heavy and steady. So far 4 inches has accumulated in my rain gauge. There was 2 inch in it when I emptied it before bedtime last night, they said it was going to rain another 2-4 inches and the gauge only holds 5 inches so I didn't want to miss any.

The plants I got in the ground over the weekend are loving this!!! And there has been enough lightening around to give them a good nitrogen boost so when the sun comes back out later this week there should be lots of growing going on in the garden.

Good morning! It started raining here around 4 am and continued until about 11:30 am. Our rain guage, homemade, says 3 1/2 inches. The yard is quite soggy. Being at the bottom of a hill means the water runs down and collects. I went and emptied the water out of a few flower pots. The onions are out from under water now, It's flowed right around them. The road will need a few hours to dry out before we can go up it. We'll see about the Writer's Guild for tonight. Flood warnings for the Navasota River near Normangee until Sunday.

Happy Tuesday afternoon. I just got home and checked the rain gauge. Just under 3 inches here! woohoo! I didn't water over the weekend hoping this rain would actually get here. Now everything is good and soaked again. I heard on the news that my county is now out of drought conditions and that we've already gotten more rain in 2012 than we did all of 2011. I can believe it!
And temps have dropped too... around 58F at the moment.
Gonna be some good sleeping weather!

Good morning all. Bright, clear, sunny sky today....I miss the overcast and rain :'( But the plants ought to put on several inches pretty quickly after the 4.25 inches of rain the other day. Too sloppy to do any planting but I have a lot to do out in the backyard to clear up stuff that has been accumulating out there .... it has become the "stick it out back for now and I will deal with it later" place for homeless items....and now is the "later" I kept referring to over winter.

I heard on the news that Texas was getting lots of rain. Some of you Texans here are getting relief. What good news.Just so you don't get floods now.
I attended a garden club meeting last night. The local greenhouse man brought in what he considers to be among the best selections of plants for our area.He gave a big talk. He opens up with "Well,I don't know what to say about this weather ".There were many examples given of plants that have always been annuals here coming back this spring.
He has been a staunch supporter of non global warming. I was dying to ask him if he's ready to concede this might be a possibility.

Good day everyone, with the exception of the warmer part of the day, we spent the day escorting more dead leaves to the compost pile. For part of this evening we were Stewless, brrrrrr, a chilling thought. I had to wander off and do something else until the Stew was back on line. I'm tempted with this warm weather to start some seeds. Tempted.......
