I haven't been able to catch up on this thread for a while. They are certainly looking like chunky little bundles. Good job DHR. Any more issues with the fox?
We've not seen the fox for a few weeks now. They won't waste their time climbing over the fence if there's never any food that they can access.
Cameras working well with new batteries. Still no nearer working out how many hedgehogs and where they are going. Last night. In 20.40 Out 21.27 In 21.42 Out 22.03 In 23.25 In 1.30 Out 2.17. The activity on the patio was between 21.53 and 2.46. So if the cameras picked up all movements, there was still one hedgehog in the garden all night. Here's a couple of "In" photos. But is it the same one?
It could possibly have gone into one of the hedgehog house, but i'm not going to disturb it in case it has.
The mystery deepens. Last night's activity. In at 20.23pm In at 21.09pm In at 12.19am Out at 21.20 pm In at 4.02am Sorry! False alarm! That was the only activity at the bottom of the garden. On the patio, the feeder was visited several times between 12.42am and 2.36am Both food dishes were emptied, the one in the feeder on the patio has twice the capacity as the one at the bottom of the garden.
I've no idea, if the camera can find a mouse it must be able to find a hedgehog. The one on the patio will find Marcel when he's 20 ft away. Just to make a point, I've only ever seen one mouse at a time on either camera and not that often. The problem with the cameras is that they will take a picture followed by a 15 second video, but won't take another for 5 seconds, that's the shortest activation gap at which I can set them. Five seconds is a long time if one of the hedgehogs want to make a dash out through their doorway without being noticed. When they are recording there's a little red light on the front of the camera. The hedgehogs most notice it as they are coming into the garden as they are always looking at the camera..
