So, You can see why I put the snake out... it was right outside my back door... at first I thought it was sweet, but after a week or so... not so much so.

Hi Kate,..i can well understand you thinking it was a Mouse,..they are so small,..and rounded and don't stay still for long.

Hi Sjoerd,..this time of year they are very vocal,..other times you just see them flit here and there between plants,..with them being brownish in color they blend in with plants very well.

I love the wrens we have around here that visit every summer in Wisconsin...He sings his little heart out to us and I love it....we have a pair nesting in one of our houses right now.

your photos are great, they are a fast little bird and sometimes hard to get pictures of them...

Alas Sherry i think something is amiss with the Wrens in the Bird House,..only one Wren seems to be there and it was remaining in the nest keeping at the back,..now the Coal Tit has started investigating,..often.

Hi Philip. Great pics of a lovely small bird - definitely one of my favourites. A very wise one yours to nest in the bird box out of harms way from Squirrels etc.
Did once have a visit from a family in the garden for a day - mum dad plus 8 little 'uns. Fascinating to watch their agile antics including in stages clinging to and scrambling up a five feet high fence and what a noise - a wonderful one off experience.
Had another nest successfully in a conifer 6 feet from the bungalow at last address - heard plenty from the chicks but never got to see them - an early morn departure.
Two years ago they built a nest in Climbing Roses & Clematis on garage wall three feet from bungalow here. Closed off the path so they were not disturbed and all went well up to hearing the chicks - sadly then a wretched Squirrel or Magpie pulled the nest out and presumably ate the young. Very distressed about that - a real blow.
Hope you get to see yours "leave home" and get some pics.
    Best wishes. Syd.

I am going to say the same thing as Carolyn. We have the Carolina Wren that looks like this pretty bird. I love their songs. They also seem to enjoy being near us humans; they don't always fly off quickly.

Our wren babies have left the bird house and is it quiet here....I would rather have 6 wrens singing their little hearts out for me while I am in the garden or just relaxing...I am looking forward to seeing them next spring...

I hope the Coal tits visits don't mean that the wren will abandon the nest box. :fingerscrossed: I know male wrens aren't the best parents and will often have more than one female sitting on eggs. He doesn't always play much of a part in feeding the young either - maybe that's why you're only seeing the one bird. Let's hope the female will go on to hatch any eggs and successfully bring up the youngsters.

Not much activity to be seen though there is movement in the bird House and i notice the entry has being cleaned of bits an pieces from when they were building,..i have the feeling the Male Wren has headed off elsewhere.
