Great pics. I checked that Ulla. A beauty. You say six months? Then I guess I should keep quitet and be happy about my 4 month winter ??? Happy to see dandelions? Please get back to me in a few weeks! I have been deadheading. Whenever I see yellow I go crazy. And if, a few days later, I see the white puffy ball, I go nuts! I just read this is not the way to go. Cause the plant keeps trying harder to put up more blooms in an effort to ... reproduce! IS IT SO ??? ANYWAY... great PIX!
Beautiful Tulips,..and lovely pictures!,..delighted you have spring,..i smiled at your Dandelion as i grow some in pots,..just for my Silver Dollar fish to eat!.
Cheryl, we're not alone. Thanks Kildale. We've had an unseasonally dry April, and forecast says a very warm first half of May. I hope so. DB, the cats go in and out as they please, but I think they've felt a bit hemmed-in by all the snow. It's not much fun for a cat to have to follow the paths the humans make. They have enjoyed the barefrost though, since they've been able to play hide-and-seek underneath the bushes. Calin, yes, you should. I don't like dandelions much in general, but the first one's special. I gave it to the neighbour's rabbit. In my experience you have to dig up the dandelion in order to get rid of it. You can also wring off the entire rosette, leaves and buds. The plant will use a lot of energy to grow new leaves and buds, and the theory is that they will kill themselves trying to grow. Good luck! Philip, I shan't mention what you said about dandelions for my girls. They'd want to bring one inside to grow during winter next.
Interesting point about wringing off the flower, stem, and leaves. Have nver heard that it works. I will feel better next time I don't take the time to dig one out.
My neighbour swears by this method, but I think you'll have to wring off the rosette several times before the root gives up. She uses a dandelion iron to simplify the task. At least the plant won't have a chance to bloom this way.
