When I was stationed near Jacksonville Fla. the base newspaper had a picture of a Water Mocasin that base security had killed. The guy was standing on the tailgate of a full sized pickup truck, holding the snake by it's tail. The guy was 6 ft. tall and the snake's head was on the ground. They said the snake was close to 10 ft. long. I would walk a mile out of my way to go around a snake!
Lovely pictures Dooley,..i always had a fondness for snakes,.. when stationed abroad i used collect Snakes,Lizards and Scorpions,..i was sleeping in a four man tent,..as time passed there was only one guy left in my tent and he was taken to hospital with a nervous condition,..he began sleeping with his eyes open,..many times i had to poke him just in case he had died,..nobody ever complained as it was me who answered the panic call when a large snake appeared in camp,..lovely creatures,..none ever bit me.
