I have just been through 2 miserable days of extreme heat and high wind, Ugh!
As I am a gardener/landscaper, I still have to work. I wear a wide brim hat to keep the sun off my face and neck, loose clothing, wear and reapply sunscreen, I drink water like a fish, I take breaks in shade, and run cool water on my arms. I also have a spray bottle to spritz myself with frequently. It can be draining, and I have learned to recognize my limits! We do not schedule big jobs on extreme weather days. Luckily, our heat spell is supposed to snap tonight for more pleasant 80s the rest of this week. I am now in my air conditioned house,*relief* It is mean out there today!
    Stay cool ;)

Thanks for refresher on the statistics. It was my last summer & fall semesters at E. Texas State in Commerce.
Geez... that was a long time ago, but I remember it so well!

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. :D Summer heat isn't exactly what we have to cope with where I live. Large amounts of rain and temps between 12 and 16° C on the other hand...

Well here today it was 95 degree's F plus. I work outside. I drive a garbage truck and load trash all day. Alone. I drank 4 20oz bottles of gatorade, and nearly 3 gallons of water. Cold water over the forearms and neck can quickly reduce body temps. Moving air and shade help too. Pace yourself.

Hydrate yourself beginning the day before strenuous activity. If you are able, eat a couple of bannana's during the day.

Eat lightly during activities. Wet fruits, cheese/peanut butter crackers, trail mix/granola and the like.

Pay attention to what your body tells you. Rest when necessary.

And during the 'summer' of 1980, I was in the deserts of North Africa. Hotter than h3ll's half acre it was!

I do my yard work and walk the dogs in the morning and evening and then I stay inside in the A/C for the rest of the day or if I have to go out it's from the A/C in the house to the A/C in the car.

Droopy, perhaps you are fortunate enough to live in a COLD climate ? I have no idea about C' temps. I only do F' temps. I do not do metrics either. If I could, I would stay indoors in the AC 24/7 until fall got here. And I would have it set on 50' F. :smt111

Droopy's location is listed below her avatar, she is in Norway.

For a quick and easy conversion of temperature, length, etc. go to Conversions.com I have used that site many times since I joined GardenStew and I am starting to understand that her temperature between 12-16c is approximately 50-60f.

Then Droopy is indeed lucky to live in a lovely cooler climate ! :stew1: And those gorgeous mountains and fjords too. My ancestors are from colder climates, and I have zero tolerance for summer heat.
