Thanks, chocolate and Jewell. I thought it was harder than it looked and when I saw the instructions here I was sure I could make that. Jewell, put a diaper in the bottom of the pot and it will help a lot with the moisture issue. They absorb a lot of water for reserve during the day when you can't "babysit" it, if it is really hot out.
Another example of little things that make Gardenstew great place for tips on plant care. A diaper would have never been my plant care toolkit. Thank you Carolyn. Jerry
Cherylad and Jerry, I love to share any ideas I come up with or find, that save time, money or effort. I started a thread for household hints, but there have not been many posts to it. I love to find handy helpers that really work. So now you need to buy a box of diapers for your garden,Jerry. Who would of thunk that?
Since I started gardening a few years ago I have discovered that Zip Ties and ReBar are a gardeners friend but now I have to add Diapers to that have to have list. What a great idea, thanks Carolyn.
Carolyn, I can just picture my boyfriend's face when he sees my shopping list for next week, featuring diapers..... Brilliant idea, and I too love your creation!
Thanks Gardenelf, By the way, that would be interesting to see his expression for the purchase. Just tell him you are 'Babysitting" for you garden.
You couldn't by any chance keep the camera ready? I'd also love to see his face. I spoilt it for myself and told my hubby about the diaper tip before I read your post so no fun for me.
Oops, unfortunately I too kind of gave things away. He usually knows something's up when I have a certain grin on my face. (Otherwise he still may not have shown any surprise, since he's about to become a grandfather for the first time in August. We may well have to do some babysitting! )
Oops! too bad you gave it away. But on the otherhand congratulations on the real new addition to the family. Hope all goes well for them.
