Tomato Stems Falling Off! What's Wrong?

Good Morning Everyone!!! So excited...this is the one that i decided to leave on....i just picked it this morning....the one and only tomato on 3 plants....Isn't she pretty?

I have notes some flowers falling off my toms sometimes. I have taken note that it was very hot on those days (usually a string of sweltering days). I also went out to the greenhouse very early and gave water liberally all over all the ground and even sprayed a bit over the flowers....then shook each plant so that the pollen would float about.

I do not know if these measures really helped for sure, but my plants stopped letting blooms fall and started producing fruit again.

It could all be coincidence, but that's what I do on the occasions that I notice this phenomenon.

 

I am also noticing the same behavior in my black krim (first time). I guess it's too much heat and humidity here for us.

 

Hummerbum, thats sure a beauty. Did it taste as good as it looks?

So far, our only ripe Black Krim was pecked by either a bird or sampled by a one toothed critter. Needless to say, we considered it inedible, and used it for seeds.

 

Growingpains....it sure did...sending a pic so you can really grasp what I savored all of 2 secs..lol.
It was beyond juicy and the color was amazing!! The taste as out of this world. As I've said, that was my very first slicer that I was able to grow..boy did I nurse that bad boy!!

Greenfinger...Just saw the answer to my question..you're in Virginia..funny I didn't garden while in VA..I was in VA Beach, Norfolk, Little Creek.

 

I can just pray that my BK turn out to be as delicious as yours! They are still green. Great you are in GA, we also dream about moving to South Carolina Greenville area or may be GA in next 20 years( when my husband retires) until then we are enjoying the perks of Northern Virginia Weather

Well, it is a beautiful tomato, that is for sure, but I would be so bummed to have only one on three plants. I sure hope you get more blossoms to set for you. You might also want to try a vegetable fertilizer for your plants. not a 20-20-20 ratios, but something with a higher P (phosphorus) and K (Potassium)number than the nitrogen number. Nitrogen will give you lush growth and no blooms. Since I grow for markets I buy lots of fertilizer and have many different blends to choose from so I use 9-15-30, I am not sure if you will be able to find that in small quantities, but try in a garden center/dept. for something similar.

 

Hummerbum, I'm a wee bit jealous, but still hopeful that eventually I too shall taste a delicious Black Krim.
