Oh, gosh, I should have been clearer about sprouting beans on paper towels. That is just a test to see if the seed is viable--not a way to get beans to grow! Of course the viability test can be done with other seeds, too. But as they say on the radio, "This is just a test" of the emergency broadcast system. I guess gardeners do the test and then broadcast the seed!
