Still no snow! It was a really nice day. Such a change from yesterday. It was in the 50's today. I made cookies all day. I think I have enough now to divide them into boxes for gifts for the neighbors. Dooley

8c /46f here in Dublin, Capt Kirk , your 3 degrees is minus 16 celcius and thats cold.Do your water pipes freeze , do you need special diesel in your cars etc. i presume this would be a typical Ohio winter. Dooley, Ive watched too many cowboy movies in my youth I assumed Arizona was hot all the time 16f is cold also. John Wayne has a lot to answer for . regards Bugs :D

We don't do anything special to our cars or anything else. Just throw more wood on the fire! They say tonight it will be even colder. It is 7 pm now and it's down to 8 deg F now. Will probably be below 0 by morning. I have seen it as low as -20 deg. F before here, but not for quite a few years. Back in 1975 I went through Arctic survival school in Canada in Feb. and the coldest it got was -50Deg F. The wind chill was like -100F. There they had to keep the vehicles running all the time or keep them in a heated garage. Other wise the oil would freeze solid. I was so far north we were actually west of magnetic north. I had to be an idiot to volunteer for that school. But I was young and dumb then!!!!! :smt021

Many people believe Arizona is all desert. There is low desert (HOT) and high desert (cold). There are also mountains. We live at 4,200 ft in altitude so we are sort of high desert. We have very little snow. Mountains have a lot of snow and the low desert has a scattering of snow every ten years or so. It was warmer this morning. It got up to sweatshirt weather. Some even thought it t-shirt weather. It was a beautiful day. It's supposed to be sunny and warm on Christmas. Yipee!!
When we lived in Wisconsin, it was cold and snowy from November through April. We had snow up to the second story and temps well below zero Decem ber through February. I can't say that I miss it. I never ever liked cold weather. It is plenty cold here for me. Dooley

    weather reprot

Its 10c /50f here in Dublin today but it feels much colder, very little sunshine looks pretty dreary outside and Im trying to motivate myself to go out and do some work . Tomorrow (winter solistace) is the shortest day and i generally plant my garlic then, tradition or superstition! I look on this day as the my official start of the year. The real work wont start until the 6th Jan ( which is called little christmas or womens christmas here in Ireland) My grandmother always said the sun rises by a cocks step after this, ie the shadows get shorter (maybe this should go on a homespun philosophy page :D bye for now Bugs

It's 8:30pm Christmas Eve, Mountain Time and it's 42 F. It was a beautiful day. T-shirt weather. The kitchen was 95 degrees this afternoon when I was finishing the stollen and making creampuff cake for tomorrow. It will be another beautiful day tomorrow and maybe we'll get a walk in before dinner or after. Depends when I get dinner ready to eat. Dooley

It started out a beautiful day, but now it is cloudy and windy. Maybe a front from California or the great north. It was 65 F at 1 pm. The weather was the same yesterday. It was sunny and warm so Brian decided it was a good day to put a new front door on the house. Off came the old door and up came the breeze. It wasn't too cool, 60 F. Still, I was happy when the new door was in place. I do hope it will rain. I thinks it's been awhile since we had any rain. Dooley

:D we seem to have settled into a pattern of weather about 8 to 10 degrees c with very low sun (making driving difficult) there was a sharp frost this morning and my inlaws waterpipes froze. Some burst so emergancy repairs were nessessary , luckily we can do this ourselves (plumbers cost a fortune here too). I went horseracing over the holiday. the bookies as usual made a fortune , the peoples favourite , a horse called Justified fell at the first fence   However there s always next year ;) .I went to church on Christmas day in a place called Ballingrane, Co limerick . it was from this church that the founders of Canadian and U.S. methodism came from , having been inspired by John Wesley who preached there.A nice service. happy new year to you all 8) Bugs

Everyone in this house still seems to be in bed, (why get up?) :D There is rain forecast with possible sleet / snow showers, so another day at the fireside with mulled wine and a book :smt020 life sure is tough :D :D Bugs

Yes big change on the west side of the country as well Bugs. I stayed in bed as well. It started to snow every so slightly late last night. Only a matter of time before I see a carpet of white now :)

I's warmed up here, was at 60 deg. F yesterday. ONly a couple of piles of snow left. It will probably be gone this weekend if we get the showers that they were talking about.
