Well, MG--I am not surprised to hear that. We are a fresh bread culture here and still have family bakeries. There are few things that rival fresh bread or croissants. Of course the taste is wonderful, but the smell, MG......the smell.
Good for you.I read in newspaper. At Funerals they are trying to make it so Church members can not bring food from home for after service.Has to be brought in from restraunt
MG, I am so glad they finally made a sensible law. We used to sell homemade items at our church to raise money for missions. We do other things now, but not because of some idiot laws at least. I think it is none of the governments' **** business if people bring foods from home for the bereaved at a funeral or any other function of the church. They are just putting their noses where they do not belong. My bread used to bring $5 to $10 a loaf at the auctions. So did the other ladies breads, pies, cakes or whatever. Store bread is not very good; a few brands are good, but most are quite nasty. I have never gotten sick on foods from my home or someone else's home, BUT I have gotten sick on restaurant foods lots of times. I have seen some restaurants that have no business in the food business. Our county never even had a health deptarment until a few years ago. One national chain restaurant here wanted to put SPOILED lettuce in my sandwich, and I refused. The clerk claimed they could not throw food away no matter how bad it was. I never went back; since we had no health dept at that time, I did the next best thing and spread it around town that they were serving spoiled food. It wasnt long until they closed and went out of business. I occasionally eat out, but mostly I prefer to eat at home.
