Please tell your lovely bride for me that I sympathize. My husband lost a crown and was on soft food for two days. I hope she is back to eating what she wants very soon! Lasagna is soft . . . .
Tonight is a half grilled chicken, green salad and grilled sweet potato wedges. I made Hubby a cake. We have to be in town for appointments most of the morning. An early rise at six am to do the 90 minute drive - that gives us a bit of a buffer due to the fresh snow - so we won't be back until the afternoon, and no time to bake. There was left over cake batter, so I also made cupcakes for the clinic staff. The cake has been tested already to be sure it is not poison....every day can be Valentines Day when you're 20 + years twitterpated.
You are such a sweetie to take some cupcakes to the staff. I am sorry that it wasn’t my clinic. Ha ha. …and what a great cake for your valentine you made. Full marks for you.
Thank you Sjoerd. They really enjoyed them - even the Doctor was patting his tummy and wondering if he could sneak one in before his next patient. hahaha
Used…Grass fed steak. ( Lord knows what’s in that grass the cows grazed on ) . Makes me a bit squeamish….. Anyway… Chopped steak into slices. Mixed with avacado oil, peppers, onions, blueberries and mushrooms in pan. Stirred steak into pre cooked pepper veggie/fruit mix til done. Seasoned with garlic, salt, pepper. Then added one tablespoon of flour to make gravy from mixture of veggies and steak , blend gravy onto steak / veggie mix. Easy peasy one pan dinner… Side of Italian broccoli mix with cheese. Splurged on dessert. Mix strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries . Mixed with yogurt, stevia and topped with homemade whip cream. no sugar, low carb. I appologize for no pics …I was a piggie . I’ll be the first to admit it…and ate it all gone…after a 2 day housecleaning, rug shampooing , dust cleaning, window cleaning splurge I was starving. I don’t seems to get that high energy very often . So when it comes I gotta deal with it. Maybe I should add that my floors are so clean I could have eaten off any floor. Clean floors may last a day or two..
That sounds wonderful Pac. I like how you cooked with the blueberries. I've never tried that. Hubby is on dinner duty today. I've volunteered as the sioux chef if it means I get to have burritos. He makes his wonderful x lean ground beef burrito mix, that reduces in garden tomato sauce and spices ( no taco seasoning in this house, Hubby would not be pleased. He does all of his own spice mixes). I chop the lettuce, tomato, cilantro, and make the guacamole. I still have corn tortillas in the freezer from last time, so I will try them from frozen for the first time. Hubby has a wheat flour tortilla. ( so excited....one of my faves. I've been poking him about it for a week now and won )
So then Mel, you got your goodies in the end. I had not realised though that you were of north American Native heritage. How ‘bout that!
Hahaha. Cree actually. And my goodies are making the kitchen smell wonderful right now. Quite pleased with my poking. Definitely paid off.
Tonight is a rack of lamb with homemade apple mint jelly. A trip to the city garnered some asparagus and two lovely artichokes which will join the party, as artichoke with cheese dipping sauce, and bacon wrapped asparagus. Some baking I took to my son that you asked for photos of Sjoerd. I'm afraid the cookies found their home before a photo was taken.
Oh thank you so much, Mel. That looks delicious. Makes my mouth water. Your baking skills are legend.
That's kind Sjoerd. Baking is kind of like gardening I think....a bit learning curve of mistakes and success that build on each other. Sometimes things work out wonderfully, othertimes ..... hee hee.
