We had pasta in a cherry tomato / feta / garlic sauce. The cherry tomatoes were frozen from the garden in Sept. Basically, in a casserole dish, place a block of feta, the cherry tomatoes, and garlic, roast in oven and mix with cooked pasta. It's a favorite, and easy. These cherry tomatoes were big, so I let them thaw partially, then sliced them in half. Much easier if still partially frozen.
That is so funny, my granddaughter makes dinner at least once a week. This is what she makes! She adds basil from the garden as well. Did you know that some feta is really cows milk? We always buy one with a goat head on the package. But my daughter-in-law told me to read the package. She's allergic to cow's milk. So when my granddaughter wanted to make it for them, I made sure there was only goat milk in the one we buy. I always just assumed feta was from goats. I finally made the ginger squash and apple soup tonight. It turned out very good and was really easy to make. My brother sent me a book last year and every recipe I've made from it has been really good. I'm sure he knows I'm not vegetarian anymore. It was too hard to find what I needed in Georgia and even harder when I was in Texas! I like that the author breaks it up by seasons. My son made curry chickpea tonight. So I'm dropping off soup for him tomorrow morning and will pick up some of his curry dish after work tomorrow. I have half an hour between the time I get over by my granddaughter's school and when volleyball practice is over. He lives 3 or 4 blocks from her school. So no cooking for me tomorrow, just heat and eat.
Chook with Swiss chard + feta cheese stirred-through. Also potato purée mixed with crème fraîche. I like this one.
We are still having holiday leftovers. Tonight's dinner is ham slices, baked sweet potato, and a relish tray of celery and olives. Not up to the haute cuisine you folks are having, but we have to get rid of those leftovers!
Why do leftovers always taste better than the first day? The flavours are so much richer in my palate.
Yesterday we had sausage casserole and i used 2 of the pigs in blankets in it, still got 4 left that I'll use for Thursdays casserole, they're nicer than ordinary sausage.
Roast turkey from the freezer and baked potatoes with bacon and sweetcorn in. Cabbage, carrots, peas, sprouts and gravy.
Thanks; good to know. yours isn't slang but I was reading some slang from UK the other day. My granddaughter came in while I was reading, I told her bagsy is what they say for shotgun. She thought it was weird.
That is true. I started watching a show called Jolly from UK. They had high school kids try Thanksgiving food for the first time, which is what caught my eye. Then another episode they had American high schoolers try snack foods from over there. One of the kids brought up the fact that biscuits are not cookies here and fries are called chips and Ollie simply said that they were the original English, so which is right. But then he also said vinegar is one of the basic food groups over there!
