There is very little romance in this series. I don't read her others but I do like the ones she writes that have mystical qualities.

I just finished reading Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth. It was really good and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Now I am reading Erich von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods. It looks pretty good.

I have to keep rereading Be the Pack Leader to keep up with my dogs. Read a couple of Bill Bryson's books over Christmas break and enjoyed the stories, but my hubby got his sense of humor better than I did. :-? Thanks for the recommendation, always fun to find a new/old author. :-D Finished Girl with the Dragon Tatoo by Stieg Larsson and just had to place an order for his other books to see if they were as good. DK and the American Horticultural Sociatey has a regional Northwest Smart Garden Regional Guide that Costco had in stock. What a beauty with a wealth of photos. Their idea of the northwest goes all the way east to Nebraska, Kansas and the Dakotas. Its the most complete photo journal of plants that I now own. :stew1:

I received a book as a gift entitled
The Way We Garden Now by Katherine Whiteside.
I haven't really read too much of it yet, but it looks like it has a lot of info and ideas. it has a lot of practical gardening advice, not so much a "plant book." Anyone seen this one?

I recently finished "Her Fearful Symmetry" by Audrey Niffenegger. Popular in a lot of book clubs but not a favorite of mine. Such a disappointment after Time Traveler's Wife (which was also a bit bizarre). The story became so ridiculous that I lost interest, despite high hopes at the beginning of the book...had great potential in the beginning, but quickly lost all appeal.

I so agree with you on "Her Fearful Symmetry" I was so excited to get it and so disappointed when I finished.
Just started "Water for Elephants" the other day. Really loving it. I had heard it was one of the best stories of recent years, so far I agree.

I'm listening to the Audio book "Christian the Lion." It's the story of the lion cub and the men he greets in the wild that is so popular on Youtube. The story is great so far.

read "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. What a wonderful book. It was recommended by some people on the same forum that recommended "water for Elephants" and I am soooo glad I read it.

Just started "Olive Kittridge" (sorry I don't remember the authors name right now or even if I spelled the title right) This book was also recommended by the same people.

I just got Sarah Addison Allen's newest The Girl Who Chased the Moon
I really liked her first two Sugar Queen and Garden Spells, they are light reading perfect for those times when you want something fun and interesting. But at the same time you do get into them and don't want to stop reading until you have finished.
