June, July, August and into September....when Autumn arrives then I can get out and garden without heat stroke and thru the mild winter we typically have and but then in May the heat sets in again.
I hate having to thin out perfectly good vegetable seedlings, overcrowded perennials, etc. I have to harden my heart each time. Takes energy.
I actually was going to say the critters that gobble up my produce & perennials, but I've actually begun to take a liking to them. There's this chubby groundhog who loves my dahlias, phlox & daisies (that's all he eats, I swear). I go out and yell at him as he crosses our terrace to gobble up the new shoots on the phlox. He stops, stares at me as if to say "WHAT? Who, me??!" before he beats his pudgy retreat, his hind end waddling away.
What I hate most is not having order in the veggie half of the garden and Having a flower garden that is tidy. Cayu—you can eat groundhogs, y’know.
Sj, I am sad to say I think he's already been 'et'. Three weeks ago there was a strong odor of dead animal & not the size of an odor from a small chipmunk or squirrel. And I haven't seen the pudgy himself since then. No wonder your garden is so tidy! @mart, yes the endless hand washing!
What a story. Well, it sounds like a ‘natural’ cure. I hope that your problems are over with mr groundhog. Fingers crossed.
Weeding wouldn't be so bad if it weren't 98 degrees with 80% humidity so often. That is what I hate the most.
