I researching my family, I found out that my Great Grandfather was in the Civil War all four years as a Quartermaster. There was always a story of him stealing an old mantel clock from a southern plantation house. With him being in the job that he had, that would put him in the position to aquire the clock. My next older brother has the clock as he is named after him. It has all wooden gears and still actually works. But it loses about 45 minutes out of every hour!
