Cleaned out the tailgate bed and planted corn, beans, cukes, tomatoes and green beans. Then I noticed the drain hose on the old wash tub out front that holds water plants was leaking so I had to empty the tub so Randy could work on it. My goodness what a mess, I didn't get anything done last year so all the Gamecock Iris were climbing out of their pots and the water was loaded with autumn leaves. ICK
So that's good now and after dividing the plants I have plenty for the two water pots out back.

We planted up another 25 hanging baskets which brings me up to 89 flowering hanging baskets and 25 strawberry hanging baskets... Spring is coming...I am sure it is. The calendar says its here, but....it must be hiding yet.

Still staring at the pile of snow...
    *pout*
    More to come tonight.

I'm thinking of going out there and stomping the snow down. Maybe it will melt faster when the weather gets warmer and rains come. Or, maybe it will be easier to just till through it.

My sprouts are in the window waiting... Getting a bit leggy. I'll have to put them back under the grow light to beef them up a bit.

Beeker... "pet" (or brush them lightly back and forth) your tomatoes every day several times a day. That will help to "beef" up the stems. The movement makes them grow more cells in their stems and strengthens them nicely. I do that all the time in the Spring...OR put an oscillating fan near them to mimic wind movement.

Lugging compost to add to garden soil for potted herbs. Remind me why I thought I needed two compost piles? That's a lot of sifting!
I'm potting up herbs to (hopefully) sell at a Main Street Market next month. The proceeds will go to the food pantry, although I may keep out a few dollars to buy more pots.

I potted up all my bell peppers, hot peppers and eggplant. They should be in the ground. Calling for snow again today.

Well we tilled the garden today, We planted potatoes 2 different kinds, I can't wait to really get out there and get dirty, I am starting 5 more flower beds Can't wait, Have any of you all tried Encap flower seeds they come in a big bag2 lbs, covers 200 sq. ft,this bag is for shady areas. I bought 6 different bags they were 10.00 dollars and marked down to 5.00 it is suppose to have fertilizer and everything in it, i dont usually buy stuff like that but i have some empty spaces . I hope someone out here has tried it and tells me it is good, I really rather have live flowers. I am looking for something that climbs and flowers, a couple of the spaces are kind of shady, do you all have any suggestions about what i can put there? are you all excited asbout spring coming to, Thank you for your ideas Margie :) what we done in the garden today

Am having a day of good weather here Saturday, so I watered my parched, thirsty shrubs. All the snow and rain seems to have gone around us this year... to the north, or to the south, and has left us very dry. Hoping for a change in the weather pattern and doing a rain dance!!!
I'm just about finished raking the leaves out of all the beds, and trimming the dead from perennials.
Just enjoying being outdoors and feeling the sunshine!

I got alot done. My brother showed up early to sharpen the blades on my push mower. Then helped me fix the area for the passion flower to climb. Helped me get a couple of heavy/clumsy items out of the house. Then I sorted through the new plants I've bought over the last month or so and sat them where I thought I'd want to plant them. Then looked at my notes to see what things needed to be moved to the new sunnier bed. So that took top priority. Had to make adjustments to where some of the new stuff would go. But did get the majority of them planted. Then I weeded and laid down newspaper and new mulch in the front flower bed (also planting a couple of new things there). Started taking down the winter house and dragging out the potted plants. Didn't get too far into this project before it started to get dark. Oh yeah... saw my first hummingbird so put up one of the feeders. The other two are drying after putting some silicone in the leaky spots. And I hung up a twirly/hangy balloon thingy. I'm muddy/dirty and a littly achy. Wouldn't trade it for anything!
