Worked with bees. planted Gypsophila 'Snowflake' roots.Did some cleaning. Watering grass paths not necessary, as we are getting rain in the evenings.

haven't done it yet, but the seedlings go in today and tomorrow! i will transplant from container to ground this week. we have too many seedlings, all tomato and pepper. then seeds will be sown directly to ground: squash, pole beans, okra, cowpeas, etc.

Today I planted a few Kennebec potatoes in a leaf bag. I first placed a bed of hay , then a mixture of Miraclegro garden soil and top soil, potatoes on top, then more soil and more hay and watered. I discovered that we're using hay which has seeds and I will be pulling new hay all summer.

I also planted a few spinach seeds, a few radish seeds, dug into the peas and found some have sprouted. I would plant beets, but the wind is kicking up a bit.

Yesterday I planted the Pontiac Red potatoes.

    Planted bean seeds today.
Today all four different types of potato are above ground today. --Cause for celebration.

I had a quick check on the bees to see how they were liking their extra room. Discovered that there were so many frames with eggs now. Those gals really are industrious and the queen is a layer. I'm wel chuffed.

Not much. Only had time to give the containers a drink and some of the recently planted seedlings

Clean, clean, clean flower beds. They seem to be magnets for last years dead oak leaves. The leaves hide in the woods and wait till the yard is clean, then with the aid of a timely wind they come out and dance across the lawn till they find an empty flowerbed. There the settle in and wait. I sometimes wonder if that's really the way flower beds should be and that it is us that 'need' the beds clean. If it were not for us the flowers would be surrounded by friendly wind blown leaves. Then again it could be a conspiracy by the leaf rake manufacturers……

Planted 12 pepper plants, zucchini, yellow squash, cukes, pickling cukes and moon flowers. Built individual cages around all the tomato plants. Then I sat down and started repainting some of my garden junk.

today i will till one more time the areas not yet planted. i will plant chinese green noodle bean, rattlesnake pole bean, and purple podded pole bean. i will also put in squash seeds; zucchini, yellow crook neck, lebanese white (zucchini variety) and golden zucchini. i will try carnival squash again also. cucumbers, okra, and pepper seedlings are going in the ground in the near future. then mulching will happen. when you have a garden, you are rarely at a loss for something to do.

I planted some new flowers and gave everything a little drink. Then I measured my strawberry patch & blackberry area because I'm going to get some of the mesh to try and keep the birds from eating everything. In the meantime, strung up some old CDs in the hopes of scaring them away until then.

Snow has melted off the gardens. Ground is still frozen in places. Rain has made one garden a miry soup. So just doing what "Beeker" is doing

I dug. I have to dig with a shovel as the ground is too full of roots and small stumps to use a tiller or anything else like that. I finished the small garden in the backyard yesterday and raked it smooth this morning. Not planted as yet. I did clear the tomato patch and plant 9 tomatoes. I went to the front yard and dug the four shape beds, 1 square, 1 triangle, 1 small rectangle and one large rectangle. I still have a long rectangle up against the house but no energy left and my knees are telling me to quit for today. Still need to rake the areas smooth. I have red bell pepper plants, yellow straight neck squash, cucumbers and yellow banana peppers to plant and if room left a few seeds and flowers. I do have four round flower beds to dig and the one at the end of the house where I think I will put the wildflower mix. It's outside the fence and would look more natural. Watered everything in the front and the back. Can I quit now?
