On on side of the house in the backyard, we had a weird area. The bf had laid a sheet of plastic and had put soil from where we dug the firepit on it. Then it collected brush. Today I finally decided to burn the brush, move the soil (that was a job!) and get rid of the plastic. Then I smoothed the soil back over the area to make a bed to put hydrangeas or something (its right by the water faucet so it gets pretty wet in that corner)

Fed the plants in containers and gave them a drink.

Not much the past few days. The afternoon temperatures are into the 90's so I have to play in the shade and there isn't much needing to be done in the shady areas. Supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday so I will be out then getting the last of the new plants in their new homes.

Planted three types of beets today and cleaned another plot of mulch. Only one more to go now. Weeded.

BTW--we have a nest box full of great tits peeping their little heads off.
    Ain't spring great!

Over the last few days I planted new flowers and have been potting & up-potting stuff for the church's plant sale. And speaking of pots... I'm on a quest to cut down on the stuff I have in containers. So they've been going in the ground or combined with other containers.
    Today... mowing. And watering.

I (finally!) had a busy day in the yard! Planted my peas, spinach, turnips, kale. Weeded the birdbath garden, pruned the Roses, planted canna's and Dahlia's, top dressed another bed, watered, transplanted a few things, and cut some grass. Now I am tired!

Today nothing. Yesterday I was too tired to comment. We planted 16 rows of corn after we tilled, put down silver plastic for cabbage crops, planted 4 rows (about 150) of cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower, watered the greenhouse of course, sold a few hanging baskets and plants, planted up another flat of basil that I pinched and decided to try rooting it.. it rooted in less than a week. Way faster than starting from seed. Planted 18 hot pink geraniums in the flowerbed by the house...(Thanks CM for the reminder...I had a boatload of geraniums that I figured I would never sell since they were an odd shade of pink...Graduation party is coming up for Caity). And I mowed what I didn't finish on Friday. Boy, was I tired last night.

Started mending the fence, but rain keeps interfering with our outdoor work.
Bought some chicken manure to get the water ready.
My grandmother's neighbor has a 50 gallon drum to catch rain water and he puts a handful of chicken manure in it and stirs it every so often. That is what he waters the plants with. I plan to give it a try.
Started hardening off my warm-weather seedlings and my summer squash has two open flowers! One male, one female. I've got an inch long green squash growing while the plant sits in it's tiny seedling pot! What to do??? I can't plant it outside until the fence is mended as I don't want my other half to step on it. I'm also afraid to move it while it has a vegetable growing as I don't want the plant to fail. I'm a bit nervous about this little guy. Will it take a move while it is producing?

Beeker, pinch it off. I know it is hard to do so, but when you put it in the garden it will drop off anyway. You can even eat it.
