What have you done today in the Garden?

Well I've not been able to get out side since last Thursday depressing or what it gets me down stuck totally in doors...storm Callum carmed down sunday afternoon but we've had nothing but constant rain since last Thursday

 

We had a frost last night but it looks as if the high tunnel survived it ... we will see later today but for now I need to get ready for a funeral. off I go. this has been the longest 3 weeks and I don't see it getting better. I still have applesauce and grape juice awaiting me along with aging and ailing parents needing care.

 

Just watered my garden (in pots) and found a brand new tomato! Thought I had harvested all I would get this season. Going to pick a peck of pickled peppers when I get home.

 

Overwintered my peppers and culled most of my tomato plants. Going to pot a couple of avocado pits that look ready. Hope to compost some kitchen scraps and pruned foliage.

 

This fall, I've decided to just throw fall seeds into every pot, in every inch of space to see what comes up. I even have walking onion bulbs in almost every pot....lol. First time for everything.

Oh the big news, is that we are in serious house-hunting mode. Was pre approved a couple of weeks ago using my VA status. This is why I haven't been posting...also taking care of my mother, this is the first wknd that I didn't have to go to SC this month....3 wks in a row. I think that by sowing seeds and putting bulbs here and there, it relaxes me and clears my mind, which is now I'm able to keep all of the going, nevermind working on top of that. Whew!!!

 

Oh my Hummer... I sympathize and empathize with you. we have dealt with hospice, a heat attack, a blood clot, nursing homes and hospitals this month with my SIL, FIL and father... on top of the dementia in both fathers. being a carer is exhausting. Do what you need to for you, too.

 

Finished off the greenhouse completely, emptied water butts, cleared-away more dead plant material to cover the plots with. Mowed the paths. Checked the bees--all good there.

 

Picked lots of bell peppers and turned some compost, although it's too wet to use on the beds now.
I also did some pruning and removing of dead limbs on perennials. This time of year it's a case of "go out when you can and do what you can before the weather turns on you"!

 

Thanks Carolyn, I appreciate that!!! The plants and enough space at whatever home we choose, are for me...hehe!!! Heck we even had low 40s here and 69 right now!! This has not happened in over 10 years in Savannah. I think my plants are in shocked!!

 

Well I've done nothing out side in the last two days..it's colder today so i'm stopping in doors as it's pointless going out when leaves keep falling.

 

Well I've kept in again plus got a cold I could do without and we're having pointing done on the roof and new guttering put around the property but I do need to get out there the leaves is madness again on the back garden..it just never ends.

Mainly spent me day doing cleaning and resting in between with a cuppa and did some reading this evening.

 

Since there was rain today, I wrote a list of the tulip bulbs I have to plant for someone. I mixed up the colors.

 

Watered my winter garden. Noticed two shoots from my garlic cloves peeking thru the dirt! Bought more basil as my first plant died
